2 out of 5 eggsFix for Dead Fan

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Fan is too weak. Becomes noisy within a year - occasionally stops running.

Other Thoughts: Being a 478 heat sink used on a machine which is not heavily used or overclocked - I removed the stock arctic fan and replaced with a regular 80mm fan. Just make the holes on all four sides a tad bigger and use a zip tie to hold the fan. Sounds ghetto but works nonetheless. I would hate to buy a replacement heat sink for a P4 machine.

4 out of 5 eggsGood fan

Pros: Easy install. Reduced my CPU temp by 10 degrees Celsius. Plus it looks tough.

Cons: I left the plastic cover on the copper base and put that on my processor (by mistake). Surprisingly I didn't burn out the processor or melt that plastic, but I wish there would have been a more visible tab, or something saying "remember to remove plastic". Of course, that's pretty much my fault.

Other Thoughts: I'm not an uber PC performance guy. So i'm not sure how much of this fan is just for show, but i can say that it helped reduce the temp in my PC.

4 out of 5 eggsThree years later

Pros: Fan's quiet motor continues pumping volumes of air across the huge heat sink and pipes. Able to over drive a 3.2 Ghz Prescott 478 CPU to 3.5.

Cons: It's big. As in huge. BIOS chips heat sinks can easily get in the way. Along with large capacitors and power cables.

The stress on the motherboard is high because of weight.

Other Thoughts: Three years ago this was one of the best air cooling solution in the market. If I had to do it all over again. I would have carefully chosen a motherboard that could exceed 3.5Ghz without failing.

5 out of 5 eggsCOOL FOR REAL

Pros: This unit dropped my CPU temp from 71 to 49 degrees. The highest the temp ever went to was 56 after inatalling it. It was well worth the money.

Cons: I found it a little tricky/difficult to install in a fully assembled system because of it's reasonable physical size

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: This product works great and is quiet.

Cons: It is huge and it was a little hard to get setup due to the size, which may be the fault of my motherboard's layout.

4 out of 5 eggscool & quitet

Pros: This fan is very quiet and runs very cool.

Cons: I had to bend the bracket a little to get it installed correctly. Now it fits great.

Other Thoughts: the instructions could use a little more detail.

5 out of 5 eggsGuitar_dr upgrade asus p4g800-v to p4 HT 3.0E

Pros: I would consider this fan to be noisless out of the box. I had to check to make sure it was spinning. I do not overclock cpu's so I plan on a long life for by processor with this fan. Price is right.

Cons: Very BIG not for small cases I could fit it in mine with no problem. I have a huge case however. atx form factor tower

Other Thoughts: I guess this is a good option for overclockers. That is why I purchased it. I figured that it would service me well since I DO NOT overclock.
