- Pros: Works great! My ATI X800XL idles at 44c down from 52c and gaming on Tomb Raider Legends at 58c down from 74c! And just a quiet as the stock fan.
- Cons: It's bigger than the stock fan system. I had to move one hard drive up a slot.
- Other Thoughts: Wow, I can't belive I just now get to try out this awesome cooler just as I'm about to give this vid card away. I'm upgrading to the X1900XL as a hold over till my new PC system. But I will get an Artic cooler for that as well.
Simply a great product
- Pros: It works. Greatly. Before, my stock heatsink would keep my card nice and cool at a constant 50° C while idling in Linux OR Vista. Even thinking about playing a game would overheat it.
Now, I can play Battlefield 2 (a game that used to cook it within a matter of minutes) for hours and hours (if I can stand it that long!) and it sits at 39° C.
- Cons: It makes the card massive. You're going to lose a PCI slot below your current slot, but they prepare you for this by giving you a grid for the PCI slot next to it, so it can blow hot air out the back.
The instructions were lacking. It kept telling me to use the supplied thermal paste tube.... there was none! It came pre-applied! Made installation even easier.
- Other Thoughts: I wanted the model above this. But it was sold out. Now I'll never know if it works better! :(
Cheaper than previous models
- Pros: Easy installation for the most part (some cutting involved but not too delicate)Looks cools.
- Cons: The boys at Arctic Cooling went cheap on this one. The ram cooler is made out of a cheap alloy. Also it just did not cool as previous models (I built 3 pcs with Radeon 9800 pros)
- Other Thoughts: I hope they make them more compatible and check the quality control department. They used to sell for $xx (worth it) but now they are cheap (get what you pay for)
I bought Fatal1ty Zalman cooler and it does what they claim.
