  • With Satellite speaker stands

Whether you're into games or movies, you have to have great sound to totally immerse yourself into the experience and that's what you get from Logitech's X-540 speaker system. The FDD2™ (Frequency Directed Dual Driver) technology produces a uniform sound field anywhere in the room. A ported, down-firing sub-woofer moves massive amounts of air for a powerful bass response.

Color coded jacks make setup quick and easy, allowing you to spend time on what's really important: eliminating the bad guy and hearing him scream. The satellite speaker stands rotate to become wall mount brackets and the center speaker has a clip that allows it to mount to most LCD flat panel monitors.

A wired remote control pad has a volume knob, headphone jack, bass control and a button for "Matrix Mode". Matrix mode turns regular stereo signals into a 5.1 audio stream.

  • newegg 5.1 Speaker System With the FDD2 (Frequency Directed Dual Driver) technology and dynamic real-time bass equalization on the high-excursion subwoofer, the Logitech X-540's 5.1 speaker system delivers a superior sound reproduction and bass effects.
  • newegg Matrix Mode Immerse yourself in the game using the selectable "matrix mode", which automatically creates 5.1 surround sound from common 2-channel stereo sources.
  • newegg Innovative Centre Channel LCD Clip The compact satellites are wall-mountable. With a special clip, place the centre channel speaker on the top of most flat-panel monitors to reduce desktop clutter.
  • newegg Wired Control Centre Use the wired control centre to control volume and bass levels or connect headphones to enjoy your games and music privately.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't Live without them

Pros: -I treat these things with much disrespect, and somehow manage to stay in tact after more than 2 years!
-Quality is superb and the bass blew me away.
-Matrix mode works surprisingly VERY well.
- Easy to set up. Never had a problem.

Cons: The speaker stage holders became lose, but hat was due to excessive falling.

Other Thoughts: I highly suggest buying this. Highly superior to many other
brands.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent.

Pros: -5.1 speaker setup
-Great quality audio
-Bass controller
-Matrix mode works very well

Cons: -Front speakers cable is much shorter than rear speakers

Other Thoughts: -After more than 3 years of abuse. The rear speakers are starting to fade a bit and have to be turned louder to hear them properly. But that was expected since they have fallen over 30 times. Which means these speakers are sturdy.

Today (2012) these speakers aren't that much but if you can find these used or for a cheaper price. Then get them, they still will not disappoint.

2 out of 5 eggsDistorted sound

Pros: Decently priced for a 5.1 system, easy to setup, decent for everyday computer use

Cons: If you are trying to listen to music or get accurate sound during a game, these speakers tend to have a "wobble" in their playback, sort of like a pulsating fading. It's almost as if the speaker just can't keep up with producing the amount of sound it should, and the speakers distort very badly. This same behavior, along with a lot of other issues, can be found on Logitech's own site for reviews of this speaker model.

Other Thoughts: Would not buy again

5 out of 5 eggsUsed for almost 4 years. Still works great.

Pros: Great speakers that I've used for almost four years now. No problems, they still work great. Logitech is a great company in my opinion.

Cons: No issues in almost 4 years.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Speakers

Pros: I got these speakers about a year ago when my old speakers from my parents' old comp finally died. I was thinking 'sweet, a decent sounding 5.1 system for about 100 bucks'. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. These speakers are amazing, especially for my little 10 x12 dorm. The woofer was what really did it. I didn't expect much power from such a small speaker, but it really kicks.

Cons: I accidentally got something sticky in the matrix button, so now it works in slow motion...woops... Also, some games and videos don't work correctly with Matrix mode. It'll cut out certain tracks or distort sounds. I think I'll survive, though.

Other Thoughts: I also have the G15 Keyboard and a headset from Logitech. Their products never fail me (except when I abuse them). I doubt I'll ever stop buying from Logitech!

5 out of 5 eggsPurchased on a whim and very satisfied

Pros: Excellent set of speakers. Crisp, clear, full-bodied, quality sound with a very convenient remote to control the master volume, attach some headphones, or adjust the bass. Speaking of which, this set has some very good bass....

Cons: ...so good it made the people living below me call the cops on us. Also, the speakers sound tinny when the matrix option is off, which it should never be in the first place (so no loss of eggs).

Other Thoughts: Glad I got these before they were discontinued. Will highly consider buying my next set of speakers from Logitech.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: WOW, ITS SOUND GOOD AND THE BASS IS AWESOME. ITS NOTHING COMPARING TO MY OLD 2 LITTLE SPEACKERS. IT IS SIMPLE TO HAVE IF U WANT TO LISTEN TO MUSIC AND WATCH MOVIES AT THE COMPUTER.

Cons: NONE SO FAR

4 out of 5 eggsDecent, but could be better

Pros: Excellent looks and features. Satellites sound fantastic. Very little to no distortion when really cranked.

Cons: The subwoofer with this set was a huge letdown for me. It's a much different design from the old square subs that had the 8" baffle on the front, and not in a good way. The crossover frequency is too high for my taste and the bass isn't anywhere near as clean and clear as some older sets. I had to use a combination of the bass level on my Creative soundcard and the built-in bass adjustment to get it to sound ok.

Other Thoughts: Probably your best option for a decently priced 5.1 speaker system. They just don't build speakers like they used to.

4 out of 5 eggsGood system, poor subwoofer

Pros: The sound quality is good. Surround sound works fine (despite what some other reviewers are claiming). The "matrix" button plays 2-channel stereo sound out of all 5 speakers, which is nice. True surround sound will only work if you have a sound card that supports it and you're playing a game that supports it and you have it configured correctly. Everything worked fine for me.

Cons: The subwoofer is poorly constructed. The speaker isn't blown, but it makes a rattling noise on deeper bass hits. The cone seems to be scraping one of the metal supports of the cone. I thought it was something loose inside the box, so I took the woofer out to test it and it was the woofer itself. The woofer is 5.25'' and I ordered a replacement woofer off another site for $8. Less hassle that way than packaging up the whole thing and trying to get a replacement.

Other Thoughts: I ordered this item as Open Box, so I may have just gotten a defective woofer (and that's why it was returned in the first place). Even with the messed up woofer I'm still happy with the purchase. Will only take a few minutes to install the replacement, which I'm hoping will make me fully satisfied.
