Only works with WEP not WPK
- Pros: Cheap if you only need WEP encryption.
- Cons: Only works with WEP even though it was advertised to work with WPA. Had to pay a restock fee to return it and also pay for shipping.
- Other Thoughts: I installed this on a Win XP Dell Laptop and all seemed to go well. Then I tried to connect to our wireless network. There did not appear to be any way to set up for WPA-PSK with a passphrase. Downloaded latest driver, still no go. I returned the product and got the D-Link instead. Connected right away and didn't have to do any special configuratio to make it work.
Does The Job
- Pros: Finds and connects to access points without issue.
- Cons: None at this time.
- Other Thoughts: Works fine with my Thinkpad T30. I use it mostly at public access points, it has no trouble finding and connecting to them.
So-so
- Pros: Good signal strength, reasonably low power consumption. Extra security support is good for those who use many different types of wireless networks. I need LEAP to get onto the networks at the university.
- Cons: Linksys install is weird and long. Also, the Linksys Wireless Configuration Utility is pretty unreliable. It drops the signal after a while. Using the Windows utility, though, signal is consistent.
