Pros: Did what it was suppose to do. I had my high end computer, PS3, HDTV and it ran for 10 minutes before the battery went out. I had this thing for 4 years now.
Cons: Switch board died on me one time at 4 am and woke me up. It was only 2 years old and I had it RMA. Now it's 4 years old and I'm looking to replace it with this one again. And yes, the switch board is messed up again, but 4 years is good. I actually expected it to last around 3 years because normally batteries around this time will start dying, but I didn't expect the switch board to die.
The Sentinal program that came with it was pretty good. I just never understood how to setup the email feature. I also wished that it had a LCD screen on it.
Other Thoughts: I really recommend this one to anybody. It's really reliable. However, I'm thinking of trying CyberPower, the LCD/USB feature is a plus.

Died suddenly after 4 years

Pros: Plenty of backup power--gave me a solid 30+ minutes of run time on my quad-core Linux box and 26" LCD monitor. Very reliable while it worked.
Cons: This UPS tends to run hot even with light loads, which appear to stress the internals. My ES1500C started making occasional squealing sounds about 6 months ago--that high-pitched rising-note tone capacitors and coils make in their death throes. I knew then my unit was living on borrowed time. Yesterday it just shut down suddenly and wouldn't restart. Purchased on 9/15/2005, died on 12/21/2009 at the age of 4. R.I.P.
Other Thoughts: I loved the plentiful backup power this unit had, but was always suspicious of the copious amount of heat it put out. For good reason, apparently. All of the UPS boxes I've owned in the past have died slowly of battery failure--this is the first one where the box itself went bad. To the box's credit, it didn't harm the plugged-in equipment, it just shut down. Too bad really, because the battery life on this UPS was the best I've ever seen.

Long Lasting

Pros: I have two of these each powering an 8 processor mac pro with 16 GB DRAM, 4 internal drives, 3 external drives, a RAID box with 5 drives, a tiny linux box and two 23" panels. Both have saved my buttocks on many occasions.. powers not great here, many spikes, brown outs, and black outs.. these things have never failed me.
Cons: When you get a brown or black out the things start beeping and don't stop until you find the little button to press (usually in the dark).. Nothing wrong with that I guess.. but I usually find myself screaming "shut the ---- up!" at the things.
Other Thoughts: Most people don't want to drop the nearly two bills to buy a UPS.. I talked to an IT guy the other day who ended up replacing about 20 high end PCS at an office where there was a few big spikes before a blackout.. would've been cheap insurance.. imagine 20 people not able to work for a few days.. what did that cost?
