Did it's job while it still worked.

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year

Pros: Solid build quality, straight-up design. Lasted long enough to shut down systems properly.

Cons: Serial interface for monitoring, and the latest version of the monitoring software wouldn't install under Windows 7 x64. It got a little warm but nothing I was too worried about.

Other Thoughts: Died about 3.5 years after purchase. I'm actually writing this a half hour after it went out. This UPS protected my file server and networking equipment, and it was operating normally when I heard one or two small clicks, then nothing. Not even the battery would kick in. Opened up the casing and saw burn marks near the grounding connector...the thing was fried. If I tried to test the UPS, it would try to switch to battery power, but fail and return to it's dead-state.

Since I'm out of the three year warranty period by about 9 months, I'm square-out-of-luck and I will have to find a replacement...this time from another brand.

3 years and done good while it lasted

Pros: When it worked it did its job. Clean power and lots of it and a good amount of battery for me to shut things down. The software I'm sure there's better but for the little bit of monitoring I needed it was sufficent.

Cons: Dead in three years. The power blinked off and back on in the house and we were done. Pressing the power button causes it to click. Another poster said relay and that sounds right to me. Contacting Opti to see how this plays out with repair, customer service and cost to see if I'll continue with this brand.

Dependable - ran for 4 years

Pros: Did what it was suppose to do. I had my high end computer, PS3, HDTV and it ran for 10 minutes before the battery went out. I had this thing for 4 years now.

Cons: Switch board died on me one time at 4 am and woke me up. It was only 2 years old and I had it RMA. Now it's 4 years old and I'm looking to replace it with this one again. And yes, the switch board is messed up again, but 4 years is good. I actually expected it to last around 3 years because normally batteries around this time will start dying, but I didn't expect the switch board to die.

The Sentinal program that came with it was pretty good. I just never understood how to setup the email feature. I also wished that it had a LCD screen on it.

Other Thoughts: I really recommend this one to anybody. It's really reliable. However, I'm thinking of trying CyberPower, the LCD/USB feature is a plus.
