1 out of 5 eggsBuggy

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Proprietary USB cable, freezes, loses data, controls are awkwardly placed.

Other Thoughts: The player is constantly freezing and requires holding the power button until it turns off.

After a couple of days of using the player, it suddenly lost all my music. The drive, however, said it was still full and I couldn't re-add songs. No files were visible in the player or windows. Finally after formatting the drive a couple times (didn't work the first time), I could again put songs on it.

It also didn't seem to deal with pictures so well. Some would display, some wouldn't. Not that I really wanted to use a 1-inch rectangular screen for viewing pictures, but it's disappointing when you never know what is or isn't going to work on it.

This is subjective, of course, but I don't care for the placement of the controls. I also don't care for the navigation / menu system.

Erratic behavior and poor design (personal taste) interferes with this being used for anything but a backup mp3 player.

Inexpensive, but would rather have put the money towards some other device.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective battery

Pros: Nice to have FM tuner with recording.

Cons: Clunky user interface. Shipped with bad battery - unit would charge for 45 seconds after being plugged in to USB, then show battery full. After unplugging, battery shows 1/2 life, and runs for 10 minutes or less. Unit froze once during music play - timer not moving, wouldn't respond to power-off, had to remove battery to reset. Earbuds are uncomfortable and have poor bass, but I'm not a regular MP3 player user so this may be typical of all earbuds. Player sounds fine with over-the-ear phones.
Computer doesn't recognize unit, no driver was shipped and I haven't downloaded one. Device should act as normal storage device and not require a special driver just for file transfer.

Other Thoughts: I'm returning this for replacement, but am not optimistic about quality control since other reviewers have also reported bad batteries. Wouldn't recommend Sandisk players to any friends based on this experience.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of $70

Pros: It was great for music (while it worked)

Cons: It worked great at first but I had a few issues with it freezing for the first month or 2 then it got to the point where the blue LEDs would light up but the player itself wouldn't work. So after a while I eventually called sandisk and I get a rep and he decided to send me an update through email.

Now I try to tell him that my computer wouldn't even recognize the thing but he claimed to send me the email anyway... I never recieved it.

Other Thoughts: There are so much better mp3 players you could get for the price. Prime example being the creative zen that is 2gig, supports videos, and its the same price.

5 out of 5 eggsVery decent mp3 player

Pros: Had this for more than two years now, and still works. The sound quality is great (not perfect though), and has many features such as radio and voice/radio recording. If you just want something to listen to music with, this is a good choice.

Cons: After a little more than a year, the output for the left audio started bugging out. There would be no sound coming out of the left headphones. This gets fixed either by moving the jack around or just waiting. I know it is from the mp3 player because I've tried multiple headphones and speakers. The problem isn't persistent and doesn't happen enough to be a major annoyance. It's probably a flaw specific to a few of these mp3 players, so it shouldn't be something to worry about.

Also, be aware that micro SDHC doesn't work with this. I tried stuffing a 4 gig micro sdhc chip and it wouldn't read. Not unexpected, considering it may not even have been made when this first came out. I had to keep with the 2 gig I had.

Other Thoughts: With the newer Sansa's that are out these days, this one may be a bit over priced compared to its storage capacity. Still it does its job.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bought it at a pretty cheap price. The equalizer works great, and the battery pretty much lasts forever. Did a 22 hour road trip, and I didnt have to charge it in the middle of the trip.

Cons: The earphones that come with it are pretty cheap quality. However, within about 6 months of every day use, the headphone jack started mulfunctioning. Within a month, it could only produce sound on the right side.

Other Thoughts: Good for the price, put the quality is not as good as some other competitors.

1 out of 5 eggsBunko Product

Pros: Best Bargain around if it works for you.

Cons: Within a month the radio died, trying to use it froze the mp3 player until it ran out of batteries. Then a couple of months later, I had to manually add music files and organize them into the file structure the player required when it caused any sync software from WMP to Winamp to freeze when the player was plugged in. Finally, when I was all fed up, it froze on boot, rendering it an overpriced zip drive.

Other Thoughts: On the support forums, the admins suggestion for the sync crash issue? Disable sync options on the player. Brilliant support.

4 out of 5 eggsSansa is great...but...

Pros: Pro's about this MP3 player. Well, Lets start with a nice LCD screen. It's really a nice step up from the LED screen I had with the e200. I like the fact that it has a card slot for expanding the memory. I am under the impression it can handle 2GB because thats what I had in there. They do not tell you in the instructions, but thats been sandisk's limits for a while. With rockbox, you can get a 32GB HCSD card in there. It has some settings, nice features, its a really nice MP3 player and I "loved" it so much. One of the best features is the fact you can run rockbox on it without damaging anything. Don't do it though if you value your warranty.

Cons: Ok, The inside was done very poorly. my e200 has taken such a beating, it never failed me once. My m230 landed in a 10 gallon fish tank while playing, and it still works to this day! I dropped the c240, on a fluffy carpeted floor, and only one side of working headphones plays. I was assuming an amp soldered poorly. So I returned it to the store after a week of owning it, and got a new one. So I was at the gym today, I put it in my pocket, the headphone cord got a little stuck, and now, both channels are not playing now, but I find it find it funny it always happened to the left channel. How can I listen to Morning Musume now!?

Other Thoughts: This one lasted longer than the previous one. The first one was seven days, this one was nine days. I am quite impressed.

Listen, it's a great player, just be careful. I will not buy another one because the solder job inside is terrible! I am very unsatisfied with the people who did this. They've tainted the good sandisk name. Like I said, be careful with it and it will provide you with great music for a long time. My mothers is a year old and hers is doing well.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing player

Pros: Amazing sound quality, though I don't use the supplied ear buds. Easy to use interface, easy to read and pretty tough as well. I love the fact that you can just plug it into the USB and load music on it with out extra software. Can't wait to get a micro SD card for it. And great battery life, 20+ hours.

Cons: No real cons other than these players don't do .ogg natively. I used after market software however, and it plays ANY sound file out there now.

Other Thoughts: Best bang for the buck I think, I love my player, and the only thing I would get after this is another Sansa, maybe the E200 series for video playback.
