Put's iPod to shame

Pros: I own 4 Sansa e200 series players and have bought 4 others for relatives over the last few years. Except for my first unit, which had a hardware problem and locked up occasionally, they have all worked perfectly. They last an incredibly long time on one charge, take very little time to recharge, and sound great. I've upgraded the OS on all my units to RockBox which adds quite a few additional features and allows for some extreme customization.

Frankly, I wouldn't own an iPod if you gave it to me - I'd trade it in on a few more Sansas.

* Inexpensive
* Excellent feature set
* Good looks
* Easy to use
* Great sound
* Very durable
* Exceptionally customizable

Cons: The scroll wheel can be a tad sensitive sometimes but it's only when changing between menu options that it's at all noticeable.

Other Thoughts: A non-proprietary charging cable would have been better.

Pros: my son really like this one. he has had 2. it is easy to use.

Cons: the 1st one the plug in chipped and he could not charge it. the 2nd one the head phone connection came loose and he cannot use headphones.

Other Thoughts: wish there was a way to change out the charger port so he could combine the 2.

Great, what you need to know

Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year

Pros: 4 screws to remove battery, this will fix any freeze. DB refresh can be turned off by USB settings. ROCKBOX open source allows you to still use it normally, but ROCKBOX supports any size memory card. i have two or these, both refurb, and they do work great. I also found a clock radio player that I use to play and charge away from my PC, but those are tough to find.

Cons: I really like podcasts, and I have not found a good way to auto sync them. I use it like a flash drive, and just grab and drop music, podcasts, audiobooks and video.

Other Thoughts: fm radio, video, but screen is small for that. recorder function. between loading the RB or the Sansa, will play any music format. running the rockbox software on it really improves the features. I have the 6gb unit, with an 8gb micro sd card. Will not see the micro sd in the sansa mode.
