Excellent, but falls short of perfect
- Pros: Good design for such a small size with largely simple interface (manual is on the packaged mini-CD in pdf). Optional UMS is a godsend as it bypasses proprietary software. Just plug it in and your computer recognizes it at as big floppy (have to install the software first for installation though). The sound quality is about par for mp3 players but depends more on the quality of the mp3s. Headphones that come with it are pretty decent. Transfer rate is quick. Around 3.7 gigs rather than a full 4, but that was expected. The ability to store and read text files is pretty awesome, especially for students. Video quality depends largely on the video you’re adding. Same goes for pictures. Radio comes in loud and strong. Player comes with an area for a lanyard strap for securing it to your body. The packaged software allows you to manage your music that way and can look up songs to fix the Mp3 tags as well as get cover art off the internet which also appears when you play the song.
- Cons: D-Click can be occasionally sluggish to respond. Artists are not in alphabetical format which is super annoying in trying to find a certain artist (may be patched later). Reads Mp3 tags, thus improperly formatted ones will not show the artist or the music track title, just whatever was written. Video requires a converter. It’s hard to find after market accessories though which may result in unnecessary cosmetic damage. The player updates its database every time you upload forcing you to wait for it before you can use it. Also, it’s slow in showing pictures.
- Other Thoughts: Fast shipping as usual! Holiday prices are great! Haven't tried to the mic recording, but who uses their mp3 player for that? Just get a dedicated audio recorder.
Lplayer
- Pros: Well on the whole I like this little guy. It provides a lot of function for the price. It is a really nice looking gizmo and the graphical display is also nice and slick. I like to drag and drop my own stuff without any software in the well organized folders and it works great for that, though Linux doesn't see it like it does my older player, so if your going the Mac/Linux route maybe research it a little first. It also worked well using media managing software.
- Cons: As noted by all it is "sluggish", though not enough to be irritating.
I had a ridiculous time getting video to work on the device. Out of the box the included software wouldn't convert video and had other problems with missing mode tabs. People with similar problems didn't seem to be getting the problem fixed so I was on my own. Both the software and the device offered only the most basic feedback as to what was wrong , but after several days of trial and error and translating Swedish websites I was able to figure out what it wanted. The manual gets you in the right ball park with 320x240 Mpeg4 / WMV video so follow that as close as you can. The one detail that was hanging me up is that it turns out you MUST have audio in the video and I had been testing no audio video. The really odd thing is once you play a video with sound then you can play videos without sound. Really odd behavior but it works. I didn't test it with WMV but I had good luck using the Xvid Codec with mp3 sound
- Other Thoughts: It really could use some more lax video restrictions but everything does work well all and all. I might expect more if it cost 4x as much but given the price I'm very pleased.
The only other thing of note is with the lock on any face press will relight the screen which slightly concerns me regarding battery life. Placing it in a tight pocket for example could click the display on randomly draining battery life.

- Pros: Not sure yet
- Cons: Not sure yet
- Other Thoughts: So where the heck does one find a holder for this little unit such that it can be used while working out? Can't find anything anywhere.
