Great player, recorder, radio
- Pros: Biggest plus - AA battery powered. No $40 batts, no downtime to recharge. Sound quality is great, just use good ear phones. Will play multiple file types like OOG as well as MP3 so no worries about having to use DRM protected songs. I just download songs via WinExplorer - didn't use an of their software. The radio function works well. You can edit the station list easily as it's just a texzt .ini file on the player. Line-in recording let me translate old LP's and various taped shows. Have also used it to record nature sounds - MUST use a good, low-noise preamp & decent mics. Updating the firmware is fairly simple & straight forward.
- Cons: The plastic cover/case isn't anything special.
- Other Thoughts: Haven't used the voice recorder function yet. Will try at a lecture just to see.
Fantastic Little MP3 Player
- Pros: I bought one back in early Jan and have since bought four more for family and friends. That's how good it is. Loaded with features and software. You can download the user manual @ http://www.cowonamerica.com/download/iaudio_g3_manual.html and read all about it. I use it mostly for podcasts and the free Juice podcast receiver software is great. That can be downloaded @ Juice works perfectly with the JetShell Pro software that comes with the G3 for tagging, sorting and uploading podcasts to the G3.
- Cons: None really. The one thing you need to be careful with is opening and closing the little door that covers the USB and Linein ports. For some reason, the hinge jammed and the door broke off when I closed it. However, I got a RMA # from Newegg and they sent me a replacement at no charge. Newegg rocks.
- Other Thoughts: Sure beats the iPxd and iPxd clones. The open MP3 format is the way to go. Everything I've tried so far, from FM radio timer recordings to Linein recordings and even reverse recording MP3s to cassette tapes have worked flawlessly. Buy it. You won't be disappointed.
Great player
- Pros: Being able to use a AA rechargeable battery is a huge plus in my book. Easy to figure out, though the manual is lacking (aren't they all?) I own three of these now and love them all!
- Cons: Case is a joke. Can't find anything to use in its place that fits this right.
