3 out of 5 eggsthink thrice befor buying it

Pros: Good sound quality.

Cons: 1. Battery life is below average.
2. Poor manual.
3. Very unclear firmware update instructions.

They don't even bother integrate the old firmware into new one. Instead, they give a bit warning to the users. Very vague instructions about 2.6 and 2.6 beta firmwares as well.

In one word, beware of the poor support.

Other Thoughts: I would have chosen a different brand.

The sale point is FLAC support but 1GB memory is imply not enough for FLAC fomat files (about 2 CDs).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MP3/XviD player

Pros: Considering price, nobody can beat its funtionality. It can play MP3/OGG/FLAC/XviD(15fps). Various sound effects and excellent sound reproduction quality.

Cons: No AC adapter and no case are included.

Other Thoughts: I would buy 2GB or 4GB instead of 1GB but I'm happy with current size too.

5 out of 5 eggsTight

Pros: Basically all the positives listed by other people.
- Plays VBR OGG files!
- Gorgeous bright display
- Intense, full and highly adjustable sound
- Very acceptable omnidirectional mic
- Uses standard mini-USB
- Comes with USB cable and a solid (straigh USB to mini) adapter

Cons: 1 - Manufacturers website not intuitive for me
2 - No phone tech support (live web chat available however)

Other Thoughts: 1 - Don't go for the beta firmware. I messed mine up pretty bad. It wouldn't connect to any of my machines. I had to use a friend's machine to apply the next update.

2 - I don't care for the asymmetric cord length on the headphone. The cord length is designed so all the weight hang on one ear.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's NOT a U3 device!

Pros: This device has many more features than one would expect from its small size. I'm already making use of the voice recorder, picture viewer (.jpg), plugnplay USB storage, and FM tuner capabilities.

Cons: I bought this because I thought it had the "U3 smart drive" USB system built in along with being an MP3 player. WRONG! The model name JetAudio U3 USB deceived me. I would have got a different MP3 player had I known.

Other Thoughts: You can update the firmware easily- check out their website to get it.

5 out of 5 eggsA Solid MP3 Player

Pros: -No feature is compromised for the sake of another. All its advertised features work and work very well. The sound is superb, the video is crisp and clear, and the built in microphone can pick up normal conversation from over 20 feet away.
-It's also well built; I've dropped it a few times and subjected it to harsh circumstances, but it still works as well as it ever has.

Cons: -It takes 5 seconds to start up, not including the splash screen (which you can change or remove completely). Thats a little more than my previous Mp3 player, but not a big deal at all.
-The manual is a .pdf, which I think is kind of annoying.

Other Thoughts: There are many features and settings to change which make this player for anyone.
I use mine every day and am quite happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggsEverything I wanted in an mp3 player

Pros: Small, lightweight, great sound, plays ogg + flac media, & linux compatible. Also has a very nice screen. I usually stick to the brand names when I buy electronics, but decided to take a risk this time. I am very pleasantly supprised! The bass boost really works well and has plenty of other ways to tweak the audio to your liking. If my dog ate this mp3 player I would buy the same model...

Cons: The joystick is a bit finicky, but I got used to it pretty quick. I don't plan on using the video function as the screen is too small to watch it more than 5 or 10 minuites. A video-out mode would have been nice.

Throw away the included ear-buds, they are worthless.

Other Thoughts: Use the rec button to get back to play mode when in directory mode.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply Awesome!

Pros: Ultra Compact Size - Not much larger than any thumb drive.
Color LCD - Small, not too useful, but enough contrast ratio, very bright, and very clear.
Animated Logo - Interesting personal customization.
Wallpaper - One interesting addon, however, while play back on music, text display covers up 90% of the wallpaper.
Battery Life - 20 hrs, it's pretty good.
Building Quality - Covers for USB slot, "Hold" lock, very well build in every detail.
Sound Quality - Clearly the winner. Very Clear, but not enough bass for my taste. However, U3 does have enough power for output.
Video Playback - Smooth and super sharp.
On Screen Display - Information are very useful. Playback title scrolling, fade in and out for audio. You can even choose to display ID3 as song title or file name. (If ID3 screws up the muti-language text, you can always switch back to file name option).
Alarm - Lots of options.
Recording - Lots of options, and you can choose different recording methods and sound quality.

Cons: Video Playback - Not a very useful feature for this small screen.
Photo Viewing - Ok function. Large file may result longer loading time.
Software - Good if you are staying on windows. If you use Itunes a lot, simply use U3 as a thumb drive instead for OSX or Windows. Life is much easier if you just drag and drop. However, You just have to convert your own video from 3rd party converter though.
Recording - Quality is not the best, but good enough.
Space - 1G is too small.
Price - A little higher than everyone else.
Drivers - Buggy.
Control (Joystic) - It's not an Ipod ok! It's simply sucks. More complicate than Iriver.

Other Thoughts: If you have other devices on USB such as Card Reader / External HD (Burner) / or Network Drive, U3 USB driver will crash and cause you hang on the booting up screen or whatever screen you had before you plugin to USB. You just have to find another computer that works. (Although it still will charge the batter from USB cord during the crash screen.)

JPEG file can only be non-progressive format for the U3 to recognize. If not, gitch will appear, sometimes crash the player.

Menu navigation just sucks, just like iriver. Nothing compare to ipod or creative zen. Takes a little time to learn the interface.

Web site does not help anything at all. not bug fix, not problem solving, and manual doesn't really tell you clearly how to navigate either.

Notice that Playback menu can browse picture folder but won't load anything. However, Picture mode will load JPEG but nothing else. it's very confusing that both playback (video-audio / jpeg) are in similar file explorer.

3 out of 5 eggsIt may be a great little MP3 player but....

Pros: none yet

Cons: Manufacturers website is UNBELIEVABLY PATHETIC. I almost never diss a company if it tries, but these guys should just go away.

Other Thoughts: Very weak internal structure. Put the USB in a little bit to hard and the receptacle breaks loose from the PC board. Had to take it apart, re-locate the plug receptacle on the board, drip some epoxy on it and keep my fingers crossed. It is drying(curing) as I write this. After going to the website I realized they have no clue. Lots of irate feedback about having to wait 6 weeks. Newegg does not allow a return on this so beware and be gentle with it. Serial number on product does not unlock the accompanying software, so get one from Cowon. So far they have ignored all my emails requesting help. They should hire an american web pro. Really....

4 out of 5 eggsIncredible gizmo!

Pros: Tiny (Wrigley gum size) HUGE sound! Purchased this for my wifes gym workouts. WOW this thing sounds incredible! I was going to order the U2 instead but finally thought heck why not get the color screen/video capability? Yeah it's small, but very clear and sharp and the iPod ain't got it and you have a really cool "lookie what I gots" sizzle with it over the iPods and other units. The only experience I have with mp3 sound is with my Palm TX but now I gotta have one of these for me, there is no comparison to the sound from this to my Palm. Clear, clean, and loud. The factory earbuds sounded quite good, but I ordered the Sennheiser sport buds for my wife so I could swipe hers for my Palm. If you are a REALLY discriminating audiophile, or are into excercising with music, get those earbuds, they really are sweet. Also, they come with a cool storage pouch to carry your U3 and a neat lanyard system to carry/work out with your U3. Super sound/video,FMradio,Vox rec, easy to use, what more u want?

Cons: A bit finnicky starting it off, it kept knocking out all my USB stuff (yup mouse too) when I plugged it in and Windows didn't recognize it. Just do the Firmware upgrade right off the bat and avoid the aggravation you'll be fine.

No armband/case/or even a lanyard?? That is kinda lame, but see above... just get the Sennheiser earbuds, they sound great, and come with a great case and lanyard to hang your U3 from.

SD card support expansion would be nice. Also, not sure yet if they have the Draconian Rights Management capability yet, included yet, but I count that a plus since I avoid it.

Other Thoughts: 4 eggs only because iAudio wouldn't
even give a lanyard with the unit.
