Well done Microsoft
- Pros: Pros?
It's a OLED touch-screen equipped Zune running a Tegra chip...
It's a huge evolutionary leap over the previous Zunes and the interfaces have been translated beautifully.
The hardware is snappy, responsive, rotating from Portrait to Landscape while viewing a photo occurs in literally under a second.
The framework for apps is there and there are a small handful of games available. The tilt functionality of SpaceBattle 2 (a Galaga clone) was accurate and easy to use, easily played due to the low weight of the device...which brings me to
SIZE: It's screen is wider than that of the classic zune (30,80,120) and shorter, due to its' 16:9 aspect ratio. The device is .35 inches thick and weighs barely a couple ounces. Very pocketable, light enough to use while working out.
And most importantly: The sound quality is superb, further reinforcing Zune's top spot in sound quality among common MP3 players.
- Cons: Cons: Volume output was a little lower than that of my classic 30 gig, not a deal breaker but unfortunate.
It's not a phone? (Listen up Microsoft!)
- Other Thoughts: If you are a current Zune owner and you are interested in a touch screen device and/or HD ouput (via dock) get this, don't hesitate!

Amazing
- Pros: I've owned an iTouch and this just blows it away with it's speed and it's overall features. The browser is slick. The entire thing is slick. It's price to gb ratio is great. 16 gigs for 220? That's great. The response of the tilting feature is also immense. I love it.
- Cons: The only thing that could make this better would be... nothing. It's perfect.

Zune HD
- Pros: Amazing OLED screen looks incredible even watching movies never thought a MP3 player could have a screen this nice. Tegra makes the games on this run smoothly I love audio surf on this makes listening to music more fun. Surfing the web is faster than I thought it would be. Overall this is much better than I had expected.
- Cons: Right now its kind of lacking apps there is only a hand full of games and other apps. They really need to get a youtube app soon.
- Other Thoughts: After getting buying this on the release day my brother saw it and ended up buying his own in a few weeks. You won't be disappointed with this. Plus it feels weird listening to megadeth on a ipod.
Great Personal Media Player
- Pros: nice display, nice audio quality, nice user interface, nice control system, video playback is great.
- Cons: not much in the way of apps, kinda a pain to convert videos but once u figure it out its not bad, only works with windows, no program for mac osx or other operating systems but you can still charge it if you plug it into a mac os x system. occasionally lags up for a few seconds but then it catches back up to where it was.
- Other Thoughts: owned it for a few weeks now and think its great device. way more for the money than you get with apple products.
Good PMP but sure not an iPod
- Pros: Lightweight, compact, good interface for playing music and audiobooks. Rides comfortably in shirt pocket. I'll stick with the Zune until iPod 4gen is released and hopefully includes GPS and camera...that or get a Droid phone.
- Cons: Web browser does not render Google Sites web pages correctly, many sites deliver reduced functionality mobile sites. Unbelieveably lame Apps store. No elegant email support. Touchscreen keyboard is problematic for my average sized fingers.
- Other Thoughts: I purchased my Zune HD in Oct 2009 and was modestly happy with the device's PMP functionality. My wife wanted a PMP and after much deliberation and checking online reviews we got her a 64gb iPod. After spending some time with the iPod, I'd have to say the Zune HD is not even in the ballpark. I have no understanding how reviews could be so close between the two. iPod renders web pages correctly, has terrific support for mail (esp. Gmail), and plays YouTube videos. And Apple's App store is just amazing. I think the Zune MIGHT compete with the iPod nano, but that's about it. Despite Zune's OLED display, I can't say that either device has a crisper display. As for using the virtual keyboards, I instantly took to the iPod's keyboard with minimal errors, but even after having my Zune for over a month, I probably fat finger every third or fourth character on the Zune touchscreen keyboard. My wife is VERY happy with her iPod and instantly discarded any interest in my Zune HD.
