RAM ISSUE
Reviewed By: on 4/22/2008
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Installation was easy even with the small case. Drivers were simple to find on Shuttle.com, HDMI video and Audio works flawlessly with my setup.
Cons: I am on my second box, the first case; only one stick of RAM in Slot 1 would work. Anything in slot 2 the computer wouldn't post. Got the second box and the same thing. The RAM has been tested and passed on another computer. This is a shuttle motherboard issue and their customer service was less then helpful. They want me to pay to have my case sent to them so they can fix the problem, after a three week turnaround; shuttle will pay for ground shipping back. NOT Acceptable.

great but not perfect

Pros: easy to install parts. Using the auto-fan control most of the time the box is very quite.
Cons: The video memory is shared with your ram. Also shuttle claims that the onboard video can handle HD video, it can not. It handles ATSC 720p/1080i just fine with Purevideo but playback of HD-DVD/Blu-ray content is not smooth.

Pros: Good, Quiet and able to keep my CPU very cool. Black sleek look, some nice hidden compartments. Easy to take apart almost tool less till you get inside to take the hdd, cdrom tray out. Easy to reach in and install all components. Came with Screws, extra double sided tape, some small zip ties and a little extra grease for your heat sink. Had one SATA cable and a few SATA power modules. I installed Vista Ultimate 64bit version with 4 gigs of ram, flawless install and easy setup.......ON THE FIRST TRY......
Cons: This build is not for a novice player, and requires a little patience to get around with the drivers if installing Vista 64 bit version. The CD's provided does not come with any support for it what so ever. You need to get the CHIPSET download directly from the website and make sure you have another computer handy to do that and burn it on cd cause Vista wont install the ethernet drivers for this machine either. So no way to get online after install. It is picky on the cpu you run and picky on the Burner you buy, If you buy a burner with an odd shape ejection button, this case will prbly not open the tray for you, but it does come with some peck replacement for the tray opener. And most of all its picky on the type of ram you use also.
Other Thoughts: For those of you having problems with the system on RAM, The first thing you gotta check is the compatibility list on their website to determine which 2gig ram goes on this system or else you will keep getting error mssgs or the BSOD. when installing vista. I tried another 2x2gig sticks of ram and sure enough one slot didnt want the Ram. But this is easily overlooked by the system if you change the MEMCLK in the bios from Auto to Manual and put on 533Mhz. It booted windows vista with no problem what so ever with 4gigs of ram that it is not in the compatibility list. DO YOUR HOMEWORK before attempting to buy this case.

Fantastic choice for HD playback for TVs
Reviewed By: scott at georgia tec on 9/13/2008
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I bought this barebone for HD playback for my new TV (1080p, 46'). - HDMI and high-def audio support: essential for media center PC. - PV (pure video) support: also essential for playing HD source (*.avi, *.mkv of 1920*1080 sources) - Quiet. really quiet. It has only one fan inside and it is used to cool down cpu and body itselft. this heat pipeline design looks efficient. you don't have to install cpu coller (or, can not install) on this machine.
Cons: It was around $200 after $80 of rebate, however, what happened? The price for this barebone has been increased to $280.
Other Thoughts: Hardware acceleration for playing HD sources of newest codec (such as H.264) is really <OFF THE CHAIN>. Make sure using proper codec to make use of this hardware support.
