5 out of 5 eggsGreat PC

Pros: I've built over 20 Shuttle XPCs ... and I love this one it's a little bigger then the g series. but they have redesigned the cooling for the CPU. They've flipped the side the PCI slots are in. by doing this you're video card fan is not right against the case. And / or you can use a double width video card (you'll lose the PCI-e slot though). nearly silent with my samsung drive. runs pretty cool as well. putting it together the tool less drive mounting was very nice!
Stealthed Rom bay, 3.5 slot, and front IO make the unit look very nice. I didn't think I'd care but I use the multi I/O card reader all the time - the card reader ports are not labeled but I think if they were it would detract from the over-all look.

Cons: secondary slot is PCI-e ... not much made for that yet.
Socket 939 is almost gone.

Not exactly a con but something to be aware of: The P2 case uses a different power supply

Other Thoughts: I've bought four of these from new egg so far. 2 reconditioned (couldn't tell the difference to be honest) and 2 'brand new' the original units have been rock solid for over six months running 24x7.
Considering a SN27P (socket AM2) - but currently have no need for another PC.

5 out of 5 eggsLove that Shuttle

Pros: This puppy packs a huge punch. Has tons of great features Gig ethernet, 4x SATA-II, PCI-E x16. The portability of such a powerful machine is very pleasing.

Cons: Has PCI-E x1 instead of regular PCI; Had trouble with drivers for Gig Ethernet, but fixed that; Would've liked a different color fascia (front panels), just my preference.

Other Thoughts: I think this is the best bang for your buck when it comes to SFF. I'll replace mine once AMD releases their Quadcore processors and the 8800's are a little smaller.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Perfectly

Pros: Small, quiet, amazingly holds three internal hard drives as well as an optical drive. It's actually sort of amazing how they fit that much stuff into such a small case.

Cons: None that I can tell, I pulled a little too hard trying to unplug something and inadvertantly pulled a wire out of it's connector so I had to fix that, but it was my fault. No standard PCI, only PCI express.

Other Thoughts: This is a great barebones, I can't attest to the windows problem reported, but Ubuntu 7.04 runs perfectly on it; everything I've used is fully supported (I haven't used the card readers so I dunno about those). As I said amazingly it holds 3 internal hdd's which I was not expecting.

4 out of 5 eggssweet system

Pros: nice small form factor, the cable routing was done VERY professionally, all in all its a nice system...

Cons: when you pull down the front door for the floppy drive, theres a hole where the drive would sit, theres not a plastic knock out in it when it comes, if you install a floppy drive its not a problem, however i wouldnt waste the money on a floppy drive...

Other Thoughts: all in all a nice case, i liked the way the had the cpu heatsink setup, intrested to see how it works, is a bit loud for my tastes, but it looks very good

2 out of 5 eggsStay away from this

Pros: Nice layout of internal components

Cons: Every attempt to load windows would result in a random blue screen of death. I've built ALOT of computers, including SFFs and this was painful. It's also too big - I'm looking for a minimalistic system. The "hidden" optical drive setup sucks. Don't get fancy - give me access!

Other Thoughts: I'm RMAing this junk. I had very good luck with Biostar although the sheetmetal they use is too thin.

2 out of 5 eggsFirst day PSU / Mobo Issues

Pros: Great features for a HTPC. It's small size allowed it to fit in my entertainment center. CPU cooler works good.

Cons: No power after reboot. The PSU fan spun a quarter rotation then nothing. Sounds like a defective mobo but psu could of gone bad too. Shuttle would work again only after I left it unplugged for an hour. Ended up returning it cause the problem wouldn't go away.

Case was difficult to work in.

Other Thoughts: A friend of mine says 10 or so of the shuttles at his work have gone bad in the last year. It's a good product when it works, too bad a lot of these shuttles has QC issues. Don't be surprised if you get a defective unit if you pick one up.

Only get if it's a lot cheaper than microatx case + mobo and has a decent return policy.

5 out of 5 eggsShuttle XPC is FANTASTIC

Pros: When I first purchased this from Newegg, I didn't know that you should make sure to ground yourself if your going to install components. Even with my thorough lack of pc knowledge at the time it NEVER once gave me a headache of any kind.

Installed a 1.8ghz athlon bout a year ago, then just recently put in an FX-60 for WELL below the price it is "offered" for here!

Cons: Sometimes onboard audio changes the sound level, funny little nuisance that can be overlooked easily.

Other Thoughts: With External graphics cards on the horizon I get sticky at the prospect of boosting my SN25P's performance and longevity for another year to 2 more.

Next pc WILL be a Shuttle XPC!!

5 out of 5 eggsgood case

Pros: great case. Built one for my wife. Thought the loudest component was my graphics card (which I decided later to buy a zalman fan). Now, I can barely hear it.

Cons: had no problems for over a year. Solid, and have never had a problem with it!

3 out of 5 eggsGood for a time

Pros: Great performance for the size. Portable and the envy of huge rigs at LAN parties. Room enough for 3 hard drives and CD/DVD-RW. You can even get some higher end video cards (X1900XT, 7900GTX) to fit if you remove the fan shroud.

Cons: The QC issues are definitely out of hand. The power supplies can't handle the loads of modern hardware and the motherboards seem to flake at random.

Other Thoughts: Mine ran great for 9 months until I sold it to a friend. Just the change in power from the different location caused all kinds of headaches. I have loved Shuttle for a long time but this is the first time I have been bit by the poor quality control and because of this my new machine is not a Shuttle.
