Feature Rich Low Budget Family Computer

Pros: I have built over a dozen computers with a combination of old and new parts but this was the first time I had tried the barebone approach: I recommend it--especially if you are used to building them from scratch. This is a compact computer that has more than enough ports and plug-ins for my wife. Since it is not state of the art, I used some old parts that were going to waste, a 3800+ Athlon 64, and a 250 gig WD disk drive. Had to buy a Lite-on burner and a gig of Crucial DDR. So for a total under $230 and a minimal amount of build time (pop in CPU and memory and slide and plug hard and optical drives) my wife gets a new computer to do her picture/music slide shows. The onboard ATI video even allows her to output to a TV. She is pleased-I am pleased.
Cons: As stated by others, this is not the platform for a state of the art gaming machine. Even though it has a PCI-E slot, the 250W power supply will be overwhelmed by a power hungry video card. This is not really a con as all computing solutions have their strengths and weaknesses.
Other Thoughts: Questions: 1. Extra 939 CPU and DDR DIMMs lying around? 2. Have a friend or family member with modest computing needs?

If you answered yes to the above, the T2-AH1 might be your solution.

No matter what, Newegg is the solution. The more I use them the more I trust them. If you buy anywhere else: caveat emptor.

GREAT MACHINE

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: This is a great system. It runs flawlessly. I put a 2Ghz AMD with 1GB DDR Dual Channel RAM, 250GB SATA HDD, and a SATA DVD burner. It's running XP x64 with no problems.
Cons: I had problems with the ALI/ULI SATA drivers with 32-bit Windows.
Other Thoughts: If you are thinking about getting this for a cheap gaming computer then I suggest changing the power supply and adding a better video card.

Good purchase for fun computer

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Was impressed on how well the system went together and the ease of assembly. Plenty of room for a micro system. Has been running since build without any heat problems.
Cons: After build went to add an old parallel port printer to the system and the parallel port is toast... Good thing it also was able to use USB. As far as the case is concerned the buttons on the cd drives are somewhat cheap in quality. I broke the button on the bottom drive the first day.
