Good Buy!
- Pros: I bought two of these and they both worked fine. G.SKILL memory worked with no problems. 64-bit winxp pro installed without problems (I mean compatibility with this hardware; xp64 has MANY problems in general I wish I would have stuck to 32-bit. You just don't find drivers for anything - no driver for usb printer, no driver for usb cable modem, etc. Many things are subtly broken.). 64-bit CentOS (a linux distro) worked OK on this hardware, except for sound. I don't really use sound under linux so I haven't tried hard. It just doesn't work out of box; you can probably get it to work if you fidget enough. Onboard video is good enough for my purposes; it's quite a saving over getting a video card; plus, it's less hassle too. Great that it comes with a SATA data cable. Fans are REALLY QUIET.
- Cons: Way too many legacy power cables in case and too few SATA. There are plenty of SATA data ports; just too few SATA power cables. But I guess most HDDs will suppport legacy power for quite some time into the future.
- Other Thoughts: Dunno if the price is right for this. It was my first time putting together PCs, so I decided to get barebones. Next time I will probably try to buy case separate from mobo if it turns out to be cheaper. I don't think it is though, once you add the shipping. I guess that would just give you a wider selection of mobos.
If you're worried about Linux compatibility, just stick to nVidia stuff and you can't mess up too badly.
Very nice and affordable barebone - 5 eggs!
- Pros: newegg got it to me in 2 days!! Small, sleek design....runs very quiet and the case keeps my processor cool @ about 31 *C...works fine with the amd athlon 64 x2 3800+ with no problems at all.....Onboard video is very good compared to others, runs my acer X191W 19" widescreen on DIV connection at 1440 x 900 resolution. i would recommend this to anyone who is on a budget, but want to powerful, versatile pc. for $xxx, for quality asus products, it unbeatable
- Cons: none that i can think of....everything is smooth sailing right now

Why
- Pros: As far as a barebones goes this looks good, it supports 4 800 mhz memory sticks, it is AM2 which isnt bad, and the 6150 isn't a bad graphics engine if you aren't a die-hard gamer. Asus is a reliable company.
- Cons: Why oh why do any of these companies install a 300W power supply. If a person is new to this (besides the fact that you should build if you don't know what you are doing.) they won't understand that all that is going to do is possibly kill whatever parts you put in it.

Asus Vintage - CLASSIC!!
- Pros: Small form factor, beautiful retro 60's transistor radio design. Backlit blue lcd, lets me know when its on. Lots of ports,usb,firewire,HDI/VGA etc. I've used vGA & HDI ports with LCD monitors and it worked fine for me. The quality is very good. The motherboard may vary by model, production time etc. or so I'm guessing because there was no real motherboard manual included. After looking over the ASUS website I found the manual and downloaded it. No fuss - setup was a breeze, sure beats scraping your knuckles on sharp corners trying to build your own case/MB configuration.
Great little computer and quiet enough to do audio/video work.
- Cons: No motherboard manual included, only the quick install guide. The front bezel clips are long and in the way when installing hard drive. no big deal just pop the bezel loose. Side of case for access has screws - replace with thumbscrews if you want easy access.
- Other Thoughts: Dandy little computer, looks great, doesn't take up much space and doesn't really need a video card/sound card/firewire card etc. because everything is on board and works well unless your a super game nerd in which case you'll want a video card that costs more than your car and a sound card that comes with a mortgage and probably shouldn't be considering this unit in the 1st place.
