- Pros: Bright display with wireless and Bluetooth interfaces. Very fast. Setup is fairly easy but some areas could be improved. Clear plastic cover protects screen but suggest getting a hard case for it anyhow.
- Cons: I started having problems with this unit about 6 mos after i bought it. The unit would not be recognized by any of my computers for syncing. Then the unit started discharging the battery very rapidly and now it will not turn on at all. Never dropped or abused, For $400+ I expected quality but got much less. While PDAs have given way to blackberrys, this unit should have lasted more than 13 months.
- Other Thoughts: Look at other brands even though the selection is getting less and less. This is my second HP PDA and both have been tossed away after just a few months of use.
Good PPC
- Pros: Fast processor, large amount of memory compared to other devices, MMC & SD slots, Bluetooth, Wifi, Glass screen, Loud speaker, extra software builtin including a nice Wireless manager. rubber sides for a good grip, plastic "flip" screen cover. Cradle included.
- Cons: Proprietary USB plug but no suprise though, no SDHC support, No "Official" WM6 support coming anytime soon, Software updates are problematic in Vista.
- Other Thoughts: Window's mobile is much more versitile then Palm and there is a great selection of free software and so much cutomizability with it, I have owned about 8 Palm PDA's and about 4 Windows mobile PDA's so far this is my first non phone WM and i am satisfied with the quality, deffinately a great buy.
HP hx2495 ipaq
- Pros: Box is shiny and has nice pictures. Shipping from Newegg was ultra fast 1 day for standard ground. Look and feel of 2495 is nice and the weight is good not too heavy.
- Cons: Hideous tech support took 5 transfers to get to someone in the PDA department other departments didnt even know what a PDA is. If you need any kind of tech support forget it they dont understand even the most basic questions. The manual is short with 20 word explanations on how to use software. First time I called about 2 hours after I got the box in the mail the guy from pakistan said my software warranty had expired even though I hadnt registered it yet. In order to fix the problem I would have to fax a copy of my Newegg invoice and wait about 30 days until then NO TECH SUPPORT which is only good for 90 days. Seems they have figured out how to avoid giving tech support. I talked to a robert from canada who spoke good english and he told me this happens alot even to him its just one of those quarks with HP. This unit hp hx2495 is suppost to with with WPA encryption yet I couldnt get it to work the WIFI doesnot see either WEP or WPA in any form. The support forums say samething
- Other Thoughts: Also another curious problem when you first turn it on YOU MUST ALIGN THE SCREEN WITH THE STYLIS if you use your fingers the alignment will be way off and the only way to fix that is to do a hard reset which requires 4 fingers three buttons and the use of the stylis I dont know how anyone with arthritis can do it all at the same time. In short if you can make it work without using an encrypted network and no tech support it might just be the product for you. Otherwise stay away from HP!
