Full-featured multi-media, travel assistance, and navigation in a stylish package. 2 GB internal storage media, preprogrammed with City Navigator NT for street-level detail and addresses for all of North America and Puerto Rico, plus POI. 4.3-inch display with impressive resolution of 480 by 272 pixels. Even with the large screen, Garmin rates the battery life of the Nüvi between 3 and 7 hours, depending on how you use Bluetooth, MP3 playback, and other variables. Super-bright, white backlit screen looks great in the car and is easily viewable in sunlight. The traffic receiver, integrated into included car charger, receives traffic information from Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network (three months of free service with purchase), alerting you to traffic congestion, accidents, and closures. If there’s a traffic alert on your active route, the unit can automatically re-route you around the problem.
Bluetooth phone interface allows you to transfer your phone book to memory and link to your mobile phone for hands-free calling. On incoming calls, the screen displays the number (if available) and lets you answer the phone by tapping the screen, or ignoring the call. Automatically or manually dial any number listed in the POI database. Compatible with over 200 models of phones; check for your phone's compatibility on Garmin’s website. Travel Kit feature gives you access to the Language Guide, Travel Guide, SaversGuide, MP3 player, Audible Book player, Picture Viewer, World Clock, currency and measurement converters, and calculator.
Turn-by-turn text- and voice-guided directions, with text-to-speech functionality, which speaks street names. Automatic route recalculation and detours. Garmin Lock prevents the unit from functioning until user-defined four-digit PIN is entered. Should you forget your code, take unit to location defined as "Home," and it will unlock.

Absolutely Perfect!
- Pros: I could not be happier with this GPS. I have traveled over 12000 miles in 14 states while using it and it never missed a turn! Even remote rural dirt roads. Fantastic! Perfect for hiking with long battery life. I can slip into a pocket and never get lost in unfamilar cities. I can't believe the one reviewer trashed it. That review is simply not true OR his expectations were extremely unreasonable. I would buy this again in a heartbeat and recommend it to everyone I meet. Rarely have I been this satisfied with any product, except maybe my Toshiba HC5000 HD projector!
- Cons: Absolutely NONE
- Other Thoughts: Extremely simple to enter addresses, way points. Great for finding hotels, food, etc in a strange location. Chinese, Italian, almost any type of food. Search by type or brand. Find the nearest Wendys, Red Lobster, Outback, etc. Like Marriott hotels or any other brand and find them fast.
Good but could be better...
- Pros: Never get lost!
Portable! Pretty accurate directions!
- Cons: Very bad signals in Downtown areas.
Doesn't find the shortest route sometimes
I park my car in a parking garage and it takes up to 5-10 sometimes to search for a signal
Estimated arrival feature always too soon (but no biggie)
- Other Thoughts: I've owned this for little over a month or so now. I've used it while traveling to different cities and its been really useful. You can lookup addresses to different attractions/restaurants/etc... which is very helpful. For example, need to find the nearest bank? nearest ATM? nearest gas station? all you need to do is press couple of buttons and it will take you there. (you have to drive of course)
Little cons here and there but doesn't mean you shouldn't get this. I turn my GPS off every night since I park my car in a public parking garage and worry that someone might break in. I have to turn it on every morning which takes 5-10 minutes to load up and get it to receive signal.
If you're planning on using this thing near by downtown or places that have tall buildings, the signal can get real bad and laggy.

Great first impression, bad finish
- Pros: Vivid display, traffic, mp3 player.
- Cons: With normal use, the headphone jack no longer keeps a clear connection, the plug must be held at an angel in order to get stereo sound. That's not THAT bad, but just recently the unit began losing GPS reception even on open highway. Out of warranty repairs with Garmin cost $xxx I spent $xxx for this 1 year ago and now it doesn't work? I'd expect that from a walmart special, but not a high end Garmin unit.
- Other Thoughts: The bluetooth isn't impressive, if you have the headphone jack wired to your stereo callers can hear feedback from their voice even if your volume is very low.
Don't buy Garmin, waste of money... or at least if you do, buy a cheap unit so you won't be surprised if it stops working.
Nuvi 660 Rocks!!!
- Pros: -large clear display
-good word pronunciation -easy to use -very accurate
- Cons: -none
- Other Thoughts: I bought this 660 for my wife for Christmas 2007 and she absolutely loves it! It's very easy to use, accurate and get her anywhere she needs to go without a problem! We have 4 boys and between baseball, basketball and football games all over the state, we're never needing directions or having to Mapquest desitinations. I purchased it for $100 more than the current price, so if I was to reccommend a easy to use and reliable GPS, don't hesitate to get a Garmin, especially this 660! It's in a class all by itself!
- Pros: This unit is easy to use and excellent for finding locations.
- Cons: As good as it is at finding almost any location, it lacks the ability to plan complete routes. Since my wife and I use this primarily for vacations the lack of trip planning is a disappointment.
