The pocket-sized Garmin nüvi 205 gives you turn-by-turn voice directions and a large full-color touch-screen, so it’s easy to stay on course! The nüvi mounts quickly on your windshield or dash with the included suction cup mount and adhesive dash disk, and pops off with a gentle tug, so you can take it with you. The Li-ion battery lets you use nüvi to navigate on foot for up to 4 hours between charges, so you can let it lead the charge when you’re making sales calls, or out for a day of shopping conquest.
The unit ships with City Navigator NT street maps of North America and Europe, and includes more than a million Points of Interest (POI), like gas stations, restaurants, attractions and parks, and shopping. You can also use the Garmin POI Loader software (free download) to install custom POI like traffic camera locations and school zones, then set proximity alerts to warn you when you’re approaching one.
This Garmin also supports an FM traffic receiver (receiver and subscription sold separately) to help you avoid sitting in traffic jams. The Garmin nüvi 205 is a slick entry into the auto GPS market, at an affordable price!

- Pros: Cheap, simple to use, accurate, fast lock ons, easy pc interface
- Cons: Mini USB charging / data connector prone to failure
- Other Thoughts: I have 7 of the nuvi series GPS units that I bought for my team at work. 3 of them have failed for exactly the same reason - the charging connector on the back is soldered directly to the circuit board and eventually breaks. If Garmin had connected a wire between the connector and the board to take up any flex, this would not happen. Be careful and don't subject the connector to any stress and you'll be happy
Turns you around and around and...
- Pros: Can get you to basic locations .. Can get you to a city...
- Cons: Turns you around and around, can cause an accident on some interstate roads that dont have the turns anymore and highways re-designed reworked.... can be dangerous...No more free updates for the refurbished or new GPS units...
- Other Thoughts: I use mine for finding a city, as for finding roads thats changed... be very careful to read road signs and let them be your guide...can be worthless at times...

It works.
- Pros: It does its job. The speaker is audible with the windows open on the highway. Input feels solid and responsive. No frills, which is a pro for me.
- Cons: The suction cup manages to detach from my window daily; every morning I find the unit beneath my seat or suspended from the steering wheel by its power cord. At full brightness, the screen can be hard to see in direct sunlight. (My fingerprints on the screen definitely don't help.)

Nuvi 205
- Pros: worked OK, picked up sat signal fairly fast.
- Cons: I didn't understand the purpose of the view map mode, the second Icon on the start up screen. It would show a map of streets but would have no names attached to them. Like a road map with no text, couldn't get my head around that one. I have a C330 that will show the street names. the poi list was disappointing also, it didn't list our local mall that the C330 does and it's 3 years old. I think I'll just purchase a map update and keep the C330 in service.
