TomTom GO 720 4.3" GPS Navigation

Pros: Theres just too many to list for the novice and they dont really want to know anyway...IMO. My favs are the current maps which i believed would be more out of date than many mfg around same time 2008. The street I live on is only 2 yrs old, Tom Tom 720 has it! Our financial advisor'd Garmin didnt have it and many of my colleagues who were borrowing a family mbrs didnt have it...but this device did, impressed! The fast 400 mhz chip which calcs directions in a snap, the quick lock on satellites, the ability to choose alpha, querty and another type f querty keybard layout (some reviewed saying wish it had Querty-hello, navigate in to the menu a tad...its not rocket science guys! The Help Me features when you just had some knuckle head hit you and youre too shaken up to dial a cop or ambulance or youre just trying to drive someone very sick there and your in an unfamiliar city...its terrific. Finally, the price of $149.99 and now its fallen just a couple of bucks- wait for free s/h.

Cons: Really none I can think of-all the "expert reviews" which are as valid as our news these days state that TeleAtlas isnt best for USA. Works just fine for me and that is the one con they come up with...for the life of me I dont know where they get this cr*p. Also, if you go to Europe, its what everyone uses! They claim Navtaq here for USA - they cant prove it by me...be your own judge, really!

Other Thoughts: Dont buy a refurb for $20 less than brand new...refurbs require new map purchases at $60+ bucks or so for the year. A new TT720 only costs $150 w/free S/H almost everywhere now...you will get the most current maps and updates for free for the first 30 days or so. You can keep going back to see if another has come out. And, do so...plus you get a free year of all the nation's drivers updates who have supplied corrections and info TT didnt have, via your computer. This is only company which has this and they are so smart to have conceived it. It blows the others out of the water! Frankly, if I hadnt bought this I would have gone w/a Magellan 4250 or the 1412 (less bells & whistles but very good and better spkr). Garmin for its cost, offers the least. Its good for adults who dont like to spend time reading/learning much re:technology. I would have said that graphic-wise, Garmin had it over both companies but that was a couple yrs ago. Both Magellan and Tom Tom now have caught up.

Pros: Larger screen, up-to-date maps, extra features such as the bluetooth telephone calls and the fm transmitter so you can have hands-free calling through your car radio with no extra wires. Also plays mp3s on the built in sd card reader.

Cons: None to speak of... Map doesn't have some county roads in Texas and Arkansas???

Pros: Excellent price, I don't know why Newegg had these up for so cheap, got it for 150 with free shipping.
-It finds routes or alternative routes really quickly (More quickly than my friend's Garmin)
-Speaker is loud and clear
-Screen is bright and has good color
-Easy to navigate menus
-Touch screen responds well.
-Easy to browse the map
-Easy to get latest maps, as well as voices etc...
-Extremely easy to set up, just answer a few questions and go.

Cons: Not really any so far, although it couldn't find Fred Meyer's (I know where it is, I was just testing) Found Costco just fine.

Other Thoughts: I enjoy listening to John Cleese tell me which direction to go.

Pros: will take you anywhere in the US. I got it for 189 through Newegg. Display is big, easy to see and voice is loud and clear. It also connects to my phone through bluetooth

Cons: Wish they included lifetime traffic updates with this, but I already knew this before buying

Pros: I PURCHASED THIS BECAUSE THE PRICE WAS GREAT AND BECAUSE TOMTOM PROVIDES FANTASTIC SUPPORT AND THE MAP UPDATES ARE FREQUENT AND AT A RESONABLE COST. I HAVE USED THE GPS ON SEVERAL TRIP ALREADY BOTH LOCAL AND OUT OF STATE AND THE GPS HAS WORKED PERFECTLY.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I LIKED THIS GPS SO MUCH THAT I BOUGHT A SECOND ONE FOR MY SON. I LIKE THE MAP SHARE FEATURE WHERE YOU CAN GET UPDATES FOR THE GPS FROM OTHER TOMTOM USER'S. I ALSO LIKE ALLOF THE FREE POI'S UPDATES THAT ARE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD FOR FREE. FOR EXAMPLE BASEBALL BALLPARKS ACROSS THE USA OR BREWERIES ACROSS THE USA.

Pros: looks nice

Cons: u turn's abound, routes through major cities rather than around them, use of backroads over highways. Sound intermittently cuts out, losing all voices and effects. would NOT buy again.

Pros: Full of useful features. Widescreen and touchscreen, etc.

Cons: Needs a $120 yearly subscription for live traffic updates. Should have done more research before purchasing but, it's kind of difficult to get information from TomTom's website - seems like they want to hide the fact that you have to pay $120 a year for live traffic. You could use the bluetooth connection to stream traffic updates via your bluetooth enabled cellular phone - but that costs you data/minutes and you have to have the 1 out of 5 service providers that are supported by TomTom. (Verizon, AT&T users look else ware)

Other Thoughts: If you're going to pay one-fifty for this unit, do yourself a favor and spend an extra 40 bucks and get the Garmin 265t - comes WITH lifetime traffic updates. Newegg shipped this item quickly as usual - just wish TomTom wasn't so greedy - at least provide a lifetime traffic service on some of the lower-end models.

Pros: Easy to use interface. Great Mounting Hardware. Bluetooth, traffic capable

Cons: On/off switch a little hard to use. But, I am nitpicking

Other Thoughts: I am a fan of TomTom products. I find their interface much easier to use, and the maps the most up to date.

Pros: Lots of features that all work with my Verizon Blackberry 8330! People will tell you it doesn't work with Verizon. Not true-Verizon isn't on the list but the gps found my BLKBRY bluetooth thru a different carrier on the same list. It works...I dont ask how...I just get happy :)

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE ARE IN UPSTATE NEW YORK AND SPEAK PERFECT ENGLISH!!! WOW :)

Its a very sleek and sporty looking unit. Lots of bells and whistles (most of which likely never get used by the normal person). Very easy to use. An 8 year old could get around with this thing :)

Comes with a very useful docking station for the pc. Tomtom, in my opinion, is constantly improving on the whole GPS exerience :)

Cons: Should've come with the Easy-Port mount instead of the old school mount... :(

Doesn't come preloaded with the most current map because it's a discontinued model (GO 730 replaced it) :(

Should have Full Auto-Pilot mode like KITT from Knight Rider (dare to dream...) :^)

Other Thoughts: This is an awesome deal if you're willing to call tomtom cust. svc. and go through the online/landline process to prove new purchase with invoice or receipt. The new map will be a 1500+ MB download that will take about an hour to fully install. If I would've known I was going to have to go through all this to get it synced, linked and current I would still do it! :)

The book isn't real helpful (makes good bathroom reading anyway) but the website is.

Pros: Instructions through your radio, FM modulator to play MP3's through your radio, Bright screen, Ease of use.

Cons: Mounting hardware could be much better.
