Maybe a little too classic
- Pros: Some Classic Fighter we haven't seen in a while.
- Cons: kinda runs slow. Very few modes to play. doesn't allow all button short cuts needed to pull off some of the moves opposed to how they have in the past. few characters even after unlocks.
- Other Thoughts: I have been an avid fan of Street fighter since SF2 and I have followed it buying just about every game along the way. First the good.. I like the classic feel to this updated street fighter. Arcade is a little more exciting with cut scenes. Glad to see some classic characters back since street fighter has gone off the edge to meet all demographics. That's where I get to the bad. They kinda let me down with this in some ways. They added more weird characters. The options of play modes is pathetic and with the upcoming release of Super street fighter it feels like what they did with who knows how many versions of SF2. They should have just released one solid game. My advice on this exact item is Don't buy it unless you just want it around as a collectors item or you just cant wait for Super Street Fighter. The DVD only works on the 360. The figures are quite small as I expected but what I didn't expect is you only get one. I got Viper and felt ripped off. I just cant give this 5 eggs..
Classic Street Fighter for the new generation
- Pros: The first real Street Fighter game that I really got into was Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the Playstation. It was one of my favorite games and I played it all the time. The battle system is somewhat simplified in SFIV from that system with a few new cool features. The revenge gauge is a new feature that gives you a new devastating special if you gain enough revenge points from being hit. They are all unique and with the new 3D-2D style they look awesome as well.
There is a bunch of cool stuff to unlock like characters, movies, artwork, costumes, taunts, etc. What gives a fighting game real staying power is the ability to give you something to work towards. SFIV does this and along with solid online play you'll be playing this for a while.
- Cons: - Not as many unlockables as I would have liked (super smash bros melee scale) but still a decent amount.
- Other Thoughts: I got the Collector Edition for 34.99 on sale here on Newegg, normally 80 bucks I got a steal. It comes with a 2nd disc that contains the HD SFIV movie The Ties That Bind. It also comes with a Crimson Viper figurine and the CD soundtrack that has all the themes of the characters. If your going to spend 80 dollars though, I would recommend getting it on PS3 as that controller is much better for fighting games.
Love the game
- Pros: Awesome shipping time from Newegg once again. Game is what its meant to be. Definitely like the old school SF II with that sense, but amped up graphics and feels up to date.
Nostalgic type of game. Good online battling etc. Why the Limited vs the regular, I happened to like the Movie as much as others complained, flawed, but not terrible. Although I never did think of Ryu going Super Saiyan before this... I actually like the sound track disk that came with it. Its just a compilation of board background music.
- Cons: Its a bit short in story mode. Some control aspects are still near impossible to pull off on a standard controller.
C-Viper throw in was lamely done, looks cheap and feels cheap.
- Other Thoughts: If you're a fan of the series and want to forget the SF 3 etc and other versions, this is truly a return to roots game. Its got a good fun factor and replay value.
If you don't care for the other add ons just buy the non-limited edition you'll be fine with it.
