2 out of 5 eggsInteresting but...

Pros: Sound quality is great. Free GPS maps for life. Lots of apps to choose from. My provider allows me to use this phone with a cheep 10$ mobile browsing plan.

Cons: Not as slick and user friendly as the iPhone. Also less apps to choose from then the iPhone.

It's to complicated to change the ringer volume setting... I miss my Samsung for that feature.

The phone freezes occasionally, Nokia support is not good, Ovi sotre app does not work for me. I click it and nothing happens. Some apps can never be un-installed.... weird but true.

Other Thoughts: I had high hopes for this to be an iPhone replacement... it is not. Maybe next time Nokia!

3 out of 5 eggsgreat hardware, good software, horrible customer service

Pros: Multitasking,
Copy/Paste,
memory removable and expandable,
battery removable,
quality build,
standard charger, earphone,
RealPlayer can accept many video formats,
Ovi maps,
NOT shiny, yet beautiful,
Nice little "vibration" when clicking

Cons: keeps asking what option to connect, does not allow one to set the defaults in many places, the dialpad disappears after the call is connected (meaning a pain for navigating the receiving company's phone menu), No built-in SIP client, Ovi online constant outage, limited language display choices.

Other Thoughts: In terms of functions, the phone is miles ahead of iPhone. Unfortunately, the customer service/tech support is horrible. Every time, the CR puts you on long long hold for no reason (I have no idea what they were checking, because they haven't even bothered to ask what issue I had). Once a CR hung up on me because I asked for her name/ID. In the end, my problem (Ovi online would not send synchronization settings to my phone) was still not resolved so I had to manually configure.

Cons: Browsing not quite as cool as iphone, not nearly as many apps, but lots of decent free ones.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Phone, Highly Recommended

Pros: • Amazing Battery Life. Use GPS twice a day for 20 minutes (commute). Bluetooth is always on, occasional pictures, and use applications rather frequently. I usually only have to recharge once a week (or twice with heavy talk time). Using the included wall plug, my phone charged from dead to full charge in less than 2 hours.
• Great GPS on a phone. After 2-2 1/2 minutes, I get a satellite lock which is faster than my other devices here.
• GPS and Ovi Maps is 100% completely free. (Love it)
• Call quality is good, can also use Google Voice application for more call features (transcripting!)
• Speakerphone is good quality and quite clear on my phone.
• Wireless is good, have no problems connecting to hot spots or my wireless LANs. Browser is good, but can also use Opera Mobile.
• Applications available are good, not great, but good.
• Video Call capability.
• Great 3G signal.
• Phone can multitask applications!
• Works in Internationally.
• Decently large functional touchscree

Cons: • Ovi Suite software needs some work with being usable. PC Suite is a bit more recommended just not as friendly.
• Camera/Video quality in average to poor lighting is very grainy and poor. You do get decent pictures in good lighting though.
• Screen isn't very visible in direct sunlight. (Common cell problem.)
• Phone is a bit thick with a protector. Once you see the battery size, you will understand and accept this for more talk time (I did).
• New version 40 firmware not available for my phone model yet.
• Mini qwerty mode is useless, with stylus it is half useless but still a pain. Full qwerty mode takes some getting used to, but I am pretty fast with it now.
• Included headphones build quality is good, but mic quality isn't all that great in calls.
• Only about 100 mb of phone storage, so make to use the micro sd card for everything you can apps-wise!
• Stylus is pretty cheap, but usable.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to go into settings and calibrate your touch screen using the stylus. That will help with the initial 'response' problems that people have. Also update the firmware!

If you can load the .40 firmware, the phone gets even better. Better home screen and kinetic scrolling. Make sure your phone at least has the .31 version for free Ovi Maps! Also becomes more responsive (new phone will probably ship with .25 firmware.

Full qwerty mode for messaging/email is the best, but takes a little getting used to.

Some people may comment about the amount of menus they have to go through to open apps, but you can organize your apps screen to make desired apps more accessible.

The phone is good out of the box, but gets even better after you tweak it a bit for your preferences. There are so many tips and tricks to pick up, but they improve the way you use the phone immensely.

The difference between this and the navigation edition is just the car mount and connectors.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Phone

Pros: the phone is great and everything is working perfectly, there are bunch of applications available for this as well.

Cons: Changing the SIM is a little pain. If you do not have long nails you need to take the battery out and push the SIM out with the stylus.

Other Thoughts: It is a little thick is would have been even a better phone if it was just a little sleeker.

4 out of 5 eggsokay phone

Pros: good things it has a 80211b/g wifi, integrated gps, touch screen, music player, free forever ovi maps comes with a 8gb micosdhc pre-installed. see cons and other thougths for more details

Cons: 1. you have to have a sim card to update the device software or anyother application on this phone
2. ovi maps screen does not move automatically you have to move it manually while driving sure way to end in an accident
3. wifi is kind of weak, always show a single bar, even after saving the wifi network to use it ask me to scan and put the wifi settings everytime i open the web browser.
4. web browser is terrible.
5. screen is big but the web pages are not renedered nicely as experienced in other phones.
6. camera is so so images are flat.
7. in vibration mode the vibration speed is very weak.
8. touch screen is not that impressive especially in sun
9. applications and things are so deeply burried in the menus that it makes it impossible to do a simple thing

Other Thoughts: my biggest gripe is not able to update the device software without a sim card. it cannot see the wifi networks automatically plus i cannot catch my university's wifi as well, never had this issue with a windows mobile phone. will update the review once again after some time about the phone

4 out of 5 eggsGood phone cant beat it

Pros: Nokia 5800 is a very good phone FOR THE PRICE! You will not find a better phone for the price as of 2/2/10. I bough this phone for 259 dollers off of nokias site and then got at&t 20 mounth go phone text plan. This phone takes time to get used to. Iv waited a mounth befor i wrote this review because at first i hated the key bored and speed. Now after 4 weeks i LOVE the key bored and speed is very good. If you download a bunch of apps from foren sites its going to curupt your phone/speed. that was my probem. Over all this phone is awsome! You cant beat it!!! i spent a mounth doing reserch and everthing lead to this phone. Just rememeber it takes getting used to, the screen, interface, and how to work it. Dont get mad and return it after a week. TRUST ME people tend to complain about the speed. trust me im the last perrson not to complain. but if this thing is texting and playing music its still really fast..now behond that it legs like hell, but what do u expect. you not paying 500

Cons: -not very good games BUT Theres 1000s of free games out there.

-Had a few probs at first with files being curupted but it was my falt for going over bored on the free random apps

----the only reson im giveing it 4 stars is because there are a few probs...but for the price its the best

Other Thoughts: Theres a lot of little things with this phone that just make u say wow....for the price get this phone. Its 5th adishion OS so most of the problems are fixed compared to the LG rummer, samsung star, toco, lg cookie witch are the phones that are in this price rang...they dont come close to this one...BUY IT!

5 out of 5 eggsNokia 5800 is almost as good as Newegg's service!

Pros: Everything advertised and most positive reviews before me were spot on! This is the anti-iPhone. I wanted touch screen w/o having to tie myself down to a service provider (Rogers). You can really customize it with font size, ringers, tones, and voice control. If you want a touch screen and don't want to be forced to buy a data plan this is your phone! The Music Xpress is phenominal. Clear sound, easy-to-use menu, many options. Unlike my previous 3 phones I am not wondering "but why can't it do this?" The only thing better than this phone was the fast service of NewEgg! I ordered Tuesday night and it arrived Friday morning. Thanks Newegg and thanks to all the previous posters for helping me make the right decision.

Cons: I'm having a hard time locating accessories for this phone such as a car charger, protective skin, and protective case. Secondly, in the first week of using this phone you might be tempted to throw it into a wall as the user-interface is designed by tech guys and not real users. Have patience and google your questions for the European-Nokia website. They will walk you through every question you have. YOU MUST UPLOAD THE NEW FIRMWARE!

Other Thoughts: You've found the best site to buy this phone now take the time to read the good and bad reviews and you won't go wrong. Changing PCsuite to Mass Storage allowed me to plug in via USB to my computer and upload 570 songs and some short videos. Txt messaging with the stylus (included) just makes life easier. I even use the music alarm feature every morning to get up. You're Gonna Love This Phone if you give yourself a bit of time to learn how to work it!

5 out of 5 eggsFree lifetime GPS navigation

Pros: Built-in:
GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Camera w/flash, & 8GB Micro SDHC included.

Free GPS Navigation! - The main reason I wanted to write a quick review of this phone is software related. Nokia has just released their latest version of Ovi Maps, and it comes with free lifetime navigation. See "Other Thoughts" for more.

Also, the latest firmware (v40.x) is out, which promises a few new features... Although it may not be available to everyone just yet.

Cons: The only thing bad I can say about this device is that the WiFi is spotty. Unless I am extremely close to the source, it doesn't seem to use the connection cleanly.... It sputters!

Not really a con, but the included USB cable is 3 inches long... What was Nokia thinking? You'll need to get a longer micro USB cable as someone else already noted.

Other Thoughts: Now, about the free navigation... It used to be that the main advantage of getting the Navigation version of the 5800 was the lifetime license to Nokia maps. It seems Nokia is re-branding their products as "Ovi", and the first big thing they've done is make Ovi Maps available with Drive/Walk navigation for free.

I plan on writing a more extensive review, but I wanted prospective buyers to know about the Ovi Maps change.
