Make all your electronics work together with the Harmony One advanced universal remote from Logitech. Setup is easy; just connect the remote to your PC or Mac, and the setup wizard will help you configure the remote. Enter the manufacturer and model information of your equipment and how you use it and the wizard does the rest. You can also download database updates on the Internet to get your future equipment supported.
Once you have the Harmony set up, all you have to do is press a button. The Harmony One will then turn on and configure the devices needed. The full-color touch screen makes it easy to choose and control your whole entertainment system.
Not only will the Harmony control your AV equipment, it can control your RF wireless devices. That way you can control the lighting and blinds in the room, if they're remote-ready. When you hit "Play Movie" or "Watch TV" the lights dim and the blinds close to give you a perfect viewing environment.
Pros: Replaced 6 remotes with this one. Haven't found a feature that is missing yet. They even had what I thought would be an obscure HDMI remote switch in their device list. Had a problem w/ my Yahama receiver not working properly (off/on). Sent email to support and they took a look at my profile, made some changes and it appears the problem is resolved.
Cons: It'll take a while to set up everything and rearrange the buttons the way you like. But, now one press of a button and all my devices turn on/off and/or switch to the correct settings. My soon-to-be-ex always complained our system was too complicated for her. She might have stayed if she knew about this remote. Come to think of it, that is more a Pro than a Con.

My new favorite universal remote
Reviewed By: bobsyeruncle on 6/18/2008
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Near perfect button layout and buttons are responsive. Deep device database. Learning standard buttons is a breeze Good looking and fits the hand well Nice backlighting and good motion detection Installable software is stable Favorites with graphics is quite nice Charging cradle is better than a cord stuck in it.
Cons: Can be easy to touch the soft buttons accidentally or even the wrong one. Software is tedious. *No ability to back up configuration!* Cannot change the order of the devices (for advanced users) Cannot change the power off order of devices Cannot create extra actions when powering off
Other Thoughts: I'm an MX-700 owner looking to update. Bought an MX-810 and this remote edges it out because of button feel and button responsiveness. I have to say both of the softwares for these remotes suuuck. But in the end it gets the job done. One thing my other remote(s) do very well is allow you to open different config files and download them or even upload them from remote to software. Logitech's way is to have a single living config which cannot be backed up, shared, etc. I think this is a real disadvantage, as it would be disheartening to have to reprogram one of these from scratch. Part of the reason its tedious is because they don't have a graphical button layout where drag and drop comes in really handy!

Cons: You need to get used to pointing the remote at your component systems (TV, receiver, players, etc.) for a few seconds when starting or switching an activity. This isn't really a fault of the remote itself - it's just a fact that it takes longer to turn on/off and setup multiple devices. (As opposed to simply turning a TV or dvd player on or off as you'd do with single device remotes). Many of the problems you see mentioned in other reviews are the result of failing to do this.
Other Thoughts: Here's a simple strategy to get the most out of your Harmony ASAP:
1. Set up your devices as basically as possible. 2. Start using it, but also keep your old remotes handy for a few days. 3. Whenever you need to use a button on an old remote, make a note of it. 4. After a few days, use the software to add the buttons you noted in step 3 to EITHER the touchscreen or reprogram the physical buttons on the remote (every one of them is reprogammable). And keep in mind, every activity has it's own set of programming for the keys - so for example while watching TV, the "Menu" button can bring up the TV menu, but while watching a DVD the same "Menu" button can bring up the disc menu (and on mine I use the "Info" for the title menu while watching DVDs) - or you can just add soft buttons to the touchscreen.

Uneasy at first, but GREAT

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: less than 1 day
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Controls everything, good range, good size, clear operations, simple layout, great button feel, touch screen works really well and is very responsive. Very customizable.
Cons: Touch buttons on the side, dont quite seem to line up with the light up arrows, but I will get used to this so no problem. Remote takes a little while to learn commands, and try to understand what your doing.
Other Thoughts: SET UP IS INVOLVED. Lots of people say this, but I plugged it in and did a very basic set up. It worked, but not quite how i wanted so I started to fiddle with more advanced settings, and after about 2 hours I had it all worked out. The biggest reason for this is that the software is very picky on how you reach a function. It would be better if there was less progression or paths you had to take to get places. If there were just icons for the different options that would be helpful, but if you have used a computer, then you will be able to make the harmony do exactly what you want. The learning curve is just a little higher because this thing can do so much.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Easy to set-up basics, easy to use, great IR range, rechargeable via cradle, awesome customer service, solves my problem(s)
Cons: Requires some advanced tweaking to achieve perfection, LONG wait times for phone support
Other Thoughts: I bought this for my father, who has early stage Alzheimers. His current system is:
All of these, even the antique Quasar are in the Logitech database. For Christmas he wants me to upgrade him to "real" home theater, but he was scared of having to learn new remotes.
I bought the Harmony One for its Activity based model - the activities will remain the same once he has new equipment, so he only has to learn this one remote once and he is all set.
The initial programming was a cinch. I wouldn't even call it programming, more like question answering. But then when I went to test it out, the touchscreen didn't respond to touches at all with very rare (1 out of 30) touches.
I waited an hour on hold for phone support, but when I got support it was awesome. The tech asked what I had tried, and then shipped me a replacement. Now everything is
