TV-IP110 Camera
- Pros: 30 FPS video display in 640X480. Web interface works well -sorta (see below). Small size. Can turn off the lights on the camera. 6 foot power cord. Easy to connect to wired network with software. UPNP works. IP filtering/blocking is a nice feature. Cheap.
- Cons: No POE if you are interested. Not many cons with the hardware - it works well enough. There are 2 ways to view the camera, web interface and SecurView software. Both have good points (although the web interface has more customizable features). Both are lacking in parts the other has = there is no option to set motion detection zones and sensitivity with securview like the web interface, but there is an option to save files to the network in securview which you can't do with the web interface - important features! The manual states its possible though (so maybe when the web interface is updated?). Securview keeps the CPU at 50-65% active, web interface is usually 2-4%! You can only view 1 camera with the web interface, up to 16(?) with Securview.
- Other Thoughts: Trendnet seem to have limited resources for this camera on their website. There isn't even a link to the tv-ip110 for their faq! I am seriously considering returning 1 camera that I haven't opened the box for yet even if I have to pay restocking fees. In hindsight, i would rather have 1 wired and more wireless devices. I am going to try to set up an FTP service to see if I can get the web interface to save to my network, but that seems really ... silly?
Like it!
- Pros: Set up easily and it works fine with a WinDOS system.
- Cons: Doesn't work for a Mac (Active-X). You can't turn off the unsecured jpgview.htm view.
- Other Thoughts: hey, it's ok. I'm going to use to keep an eye on an emergency generator in another building. Cheap and easy.

Good Value
- Pros: Great value on a Shell Shocker Special. Good Value at regular price. Adjusts quickly from high to low light. Acceptable picture. Date and time right in the picture. Been running 3 of these for over a year. Just bought 2 more. All three cameras have been running constantly for the last 4 months without needing a reboot. Also, an email with a question to Trendnet Support got a quick response.
- Cons: Motion detect feature a little hard to setup. It seems to work on an average. A small change over the entire Motion Detect Area will trigger record, where a large change in a small part of the Motion Detect Area may not. If you are shooting in a room with a window, it will trigger every time the sun goes behind a cloud or comes out from behind a cloud. Does not work well for an entire room, but if you only need to record who comes and goes, you can make a small Motion Detect Area on the door handle and it works good.
Trendnet has 2 incompatible software programs, one for each type of camera. You can't control the IP100 and IP110 cameras with the same program. Big hassle. Also the programs run as an application, not a service. If you log off, the program stops recording.
- Other Thoughts: I have been running 3 of these IP110 and 3 of the IP100 cameras for over a year. The IP110s are better than the IP100s (as you would expect from the model numbers). I am running on a network with 4 servers and 20 client computers. The 6 cameras generate way more network traffic than the servers and client computers combined, even set to a low frame rate. Even though the cameras are 100 megabit, having them on a gigabit switch really makes a difference.
Good camera for snapshot.
- Pros: The camera itself is a very nice looking and effective camera with excellent quality for the price. The features it has are also pretty robust.
- Cons: Took over 3 hours to figure out how to use the motion trigger for video recording. Cumbersome to set up FTP settings, but finally figured out how to make it work properly, but still only captured sporadic triggered motion video.
- Other Thoughts: Trendnet could provide better instructions on configuring this camera. The software included seemed to cause Windows Explorer to crash out several times. Also, it was sporadic on recording motion through the software.
TV-IP110
- Pros: When the price is discounted, price is a Pro. They write Motion capture to my Web Site FTP.
- Cons: The camera seems to run on Linux but its a extreme problem to view the camera streams on a Linux (Ubuntu w Firefox) computer, it wants $icrosoft software. The SecurView software doesn't seem to work on Linux Ubuntu with Wine. I am having problems finding code for a web page (that would have the 4 camera's running on a page) to view the Trendnet TV-IP110 (direct) streams (without IE?!!!) on my web site.
- Other Thoughts: This is 2nd Update after I've had several TV-IP110 for a while.
I have 4 TV-IP110 camera's now and so far the only good thing I have to say about them is for about $50 per unit, they are CHEAP! I find I dislike the camera's more every time I try to use their feed somewhere. It might help if Trendnet would produce a way to view the camera streams without $icrosoft (or Active what ever) ANYTHING!!!
