Can't do Pillarboxing

Pros: The LG DN898 is very feature rich: it does a good job of upscaling DVDs, it can output at a full 1080p, it supports playback of.mpeg, .avi (xvid/divx) and .srt files, and it can read from most recordable DVD formats as well as from USB.

Cons: The player automatically stretches 4:3 content to fit the screen and there is no option to stop the player from doing so.

Other Thoughts: Its a nice player with a lot of features but the lack of an option to play video in it's original aspect ratio is disappointing, especially considering the price of this player. I have seen other upconverting DVD players able to do this, so those of you who prefer to watch their video unstretched should look elsewhere. However, if you prefer to have your video stretched to fit the screen then this might not be a bad choice for you, though you might want to take a look a cheaper players before making a purchase, especially if you are not interested this player's extra features.

Pros: Great looking machine-very sleek. LG Name.

Cons: Could not even get a picture. After reading manual, I found out that your TV needs to be HDCP compliant to connect through the HDMI. This was my 4th player in 4 days.
First 2 Panasonic blu-ray players and they need HDCP, then a Magnavox blu-ray, HDCP....Had to take all back for return.
Now even this stupid DVD player needs HDCP compliancy.

Other Thoughts: Trying to find an up-convert DVD player is turning out to be a rather irritating challenge. Oh-and it was 107 degrees here in Texas where I live today, which makes it all the more exasparating.

Pros: Looks nice!

Cons: The item was delivered, inoperative. It is not readly apparent as to whether the issue should be with the manufacture or the seller? The product was returned to the seller with slow return, totaly unreasonable.
