Pretty cool
- Pros: Stellar picture w/HD DVD and really good with widescreen DVD's also. Good remote layout. Setup is simple.
- Cons: My old unit "stretched" standard DVD's to fit widescreen TV's, this one doesn't. So far all the HD DVD's are "letter box" and I can't find an option to play it in "regular" mode.
Not so good if you hate letterbox.
- Other Thoughts: A good 1080P player, even if HD DVD's lose out against Blu Ray.
Well Worth the Money
- Pros: Low price, high build quality, good looks. Better disc compatibility and quicker load times than the third gen (A3,A30,A35) players. Comes with the better remote too. Has S-Video out, snazzy flip down front faceplate covers all the buttons. Makes regular DVDs look fantastic via HDMI and upscaler chip.
- Cons: Newegg doesn't double box, so you best be home to sign for it when it arrives.
No Analog 5.1 Audio outputs, only has ABT 1018 upscaling chip (XA2 has the better chip) HD DVD is no longer in production, so only ~400 movies to watch on it.

Tosh A20
- Pros: Looks nice the unit itself that is. The picture however is AMAZING. It makes half my regular DVDs look HD so corner to corner on my 1080p tv. and the rest have tiny letterbox strips. THe previous guy doesn't know how to do his settings. This unit is great it cost almost $500 at a in town store we all know. (when they still had them in stock) Buy this unit if you are out to get 1080p Now and cheap. I am holding out still for blue ray but will get it adventually.
- Cons: The loading is slow like any HD unit I hear.. so eh Remote is kinda maped out a little bad( i don't mind it my wife doesnt)
- Other Thoughts: At the current price dont buy an upconvert dvd get this! HD-DVD is over now but you can get a amazing player and HD-DVDs for half or less now. If you havn't yet get this.
Im currently HDMI to my 1080p TV(samsung) and optic to my HK avr247 and it all works great. My avr cant do 1080p is why.
I am thinking about getting one more before you people read this as back up!
