Pros: Needed to replace an older SONY ES series 5.1 receiver that finally died. I will be setting up a HT with projector later, so didn't want to go too crazy with the living room set up. The set up and calibration mic (Included )worked well, sound is great. ( I set it up manually, and although I have a good ear, the auto calibration sounds better. I used a tripod with the Mic at ear level of the "Sweet spot" seat
Cons: As previously mentioned, having the OSD only work through component cables, but Once it was set up, removed the extra cables for a much cleaner reverse. Others have complained about not being able to go component in and HDMI out, but not an issue for me as everything is HDMI. Not a CON on this, but most receivers I have had have different sound stages, and most sound like echo chambers- majority of people will just set it up for normal EQ and stage, and let it go from there
Other Thoughts: I Bought the cheaper VSX-519 from a local store and wasn't happy with it, this is definitely worth the slight bump in price. I would have opted for the 819 if it was in stock, but don't need 7.1 yet. I am Driving Efficient 4 ohm speakers in front with no issues in overheating the amp, but do not really crank it up past 60. (Due to UL issues most mfgs will not mention 4/6 ohm applications- biggest issue is higher current draw causing overheating)
Haven't used the IPOD / MP3 hook ups, as I have a seperate whole house music system, but having cables come with it is nice.
This weighs about 10 lbs less than the old receiver-

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Great HT Receiver, for the price, has excellent performance and many useful value loaded features. Has all the latest Loss less audio codec decoding (Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD MA) Other useful feature is XV color, (Ability to provide deep rich colors).
I also found the MACC auto calibration process worked rather well and was very accurate in optimally adjusting the sound parameters to work with my room’s environment.
Cons: The only minor quibble that I have is the OSD display only works via composite or component cable. Not really a big deal.
Other Thoughts: I ordered this through Newegg.Ca Received the item within 3 days and that included free shipping. On all my purchases so far, the service from Newegg.Ca has been excellent.

pretty decent

Cons: wish it could convert between video inputs (hdmi to component or vice-versa) instead of just relaying. wish it had a 'normalize' function to keep volume levels within a certain range (loud commercials etc).
Other Thoughts: on-screen setup requires component cables to monitor. if you dont have them you have to use the tiny display on the receiver. NOTE: if you dont have component cables you should be able to use regular red/yellow/white cables that came with your video game system. or regular RCA cables if you have 3 of them. worked for me anyhow.
