Bigger isn't always better, especially if you don't have much room. That's where the Onkyo CS-325 mini audio system comes in. This small system is great for a kids’ room, dorm room, office or small apartment. It will play Audio CDs, either burned at the factory or at home on CD-R or CD-RW discs. It will also play burned mp3 CDs. You can also add an optional iPod dock.
The Wide Range Amplifier Technology produces exceptional dynamic range with minimal noise. The signal is pushed out through 2-way speakers with 5-1/8" woofers and 1-1/8" ring drive tweeters. They are magnetically shielded so you can place them next to your TV without fear of interference or distortion.

I Like
- Pros: I was really surprised with the size and weight of the box when it was delivered, usually a good sign, and I wasn’t disappointed when I unpacked it. This a solidly built piece of audio equipment, not a boom box. The sound quality is clear without being overly bright. The bass response is tight, but lacking adequate level (see Cons). The front display provided a good amount of information, especially when plying MP3’s (artist, title, track, etc). The remote is an above average quality one, and I suspect mine will last a long time. The tuner section has good sensitivity, and all the stations I expected to get are there, and then some, using the supplied half dipole (piece of wire). The speakers a heavy and well made, no buzzing or distractions of any kind.
- Cons: Only a few issues need to be mentioned. This system begs for a powered sub-woofer, and has the connection just for it. The low end rolls off pretty fast before getting into that area that gives a nice, rich sound to your music. The main unit is DEEP. You need a shelf that is deeper than most book selves. I have a roll-top desk, and mine site up top, just barely.
- Other Thoughts: This is an ideal system for a den, office or bedroom, just what it was made for. Its attractive and built well.

Pretty weak sound
- Pros: Decent build quality. But does not translate to good sound unfortunately. I am not an audiophile but I can tell between tin cans & good speakers. I bought it for the name and size. In practice, both have been disappointing.
- Cons: Very odd shaped receiver. Has a big bulge in the back which serves as a heat vent. The unit produces a burning smell which persisted. Speakers don't have good fidelity and bass is NON-EXISTENT. They will sound like tin cans. Don't just buy for the name, thats the mistake I made. There are far better options. Read my "other thoughts" for suggestions from my personal experience.
- Other Thoughts: You will get much better worth for your money by going with something else. For example, a Pioneer VSX-518 receiver and Sony SS-B1000 speakers will give you THOUSAND times better sound & power (120W). You can buy the Pioneer/Sony setup for ***LESS*** than this useless Onkyo system. There is NO COMPARISON in sound quality.
