Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: -5 HDMI inputs -sounds good -was on sale
Cons: Runs hot, hot, hot! Could fry an egg on this! The top and rear panel are untouchable if the unit has been on for a while. While high temps may technically be within heat tolerance specs, I can't see how this is good for any of the connections/wiring in back. If I had saved the box/packaging, I'd seriously think about RMAing this unit. I rearranged ent. center so this is on top to help cooling - luckily it's pretty light. But still - my last receivers, Pioneer & Denon, were nowhere near as hot as this and they were higher wattage. I'm not upconverting any video. Maybe I have a defective unit?
Other Thoughts: It's conceivable that someone could unsuspectingly install this unit and face a fire hazard/melting wires/melting other components that happened to be put on top of this.

Pros: Plenty of inputs, outputs, audio channels (I currently have 9 speakers and 1 sub connected), Audyssey set up worked great for my living room. Sound is Superb, best I have heard from a home theatre system. Numerous listening modes and a solid feature set to make the experience above average.
Cons: Some of the listening modes don't seem to work that well, I wish all channel mode would power all of my speakers instead of the main 5, and there doesn't seem to be a way to get the front high speakers and surround back to work on same listening mode although the manual says this is possible with about 5 different modes.
Other Thoughts: The receiver seems worth more than the 380 paid for it but not worth the 550 suggested price. The comments below are based on personal preference and not counted in my rating: The remote is bulky and not great as it controls random components in my setup when it chooses to (ie. cable box) so I use a logitech harmony instead. The receiver looks great but is big and hot, although expected when throwing sound to 9 speakers. HDMI repeater works wonderfully, I have every single component in my home theatre running through the receiver now and only a single HDMI to the TV, a LOT cleaner than before. Audyssey worked perfectly locating all my speakers in the setup but took 30 minutes and will not work to everyones tastes. Very happy overall and I think I will be for a very long time after what I have heard about Onko and with the up-to-date features the unit has (so many supported audio codecs)

Pros: Great sound. Brought a whole new life to my entertainment system! Even in 5.1 this 7.2 receiver surpassed my expectations! High powered, changes the whole way my home theater system sounds. Great product!
Cons: Hot. But so was my last Technics receiver. Move it to the side so it can breath, Wonderful unit.

Pros: Newegg had a great price and I got the free iPod dock (which works great!) and the shipping was very quick. Thanks Newegg! I did a ton of research and ended up buying this one. I am really pleased with the unit in all areas. Easy setup (my first setup with HDMI capabilities), manual was a little strange but the info is in there, the Audyssey sound setup really worked fantastic and was fun to do too. I had no trouble integrating my cable/dvr box, blue ray player or PS3 with this receiver and everything sounds fantastic. We were never happy with the sound before and thought our speakers were just junk but with this unit, they suddenly sound really good! Sweet, don't need to upgrade the speakers now! I've never heard my PS3 games running through my speakers as I had to go straight to the TV before but now, Wow!! Awesome!!
Cons: I read a lot of reviews about the heat from these things. It does pump out some heat but I don't think it's excessive or harmful. Only time will tell and I rearranged my setup and have it on top now with plenty of open shelf space to make sure the heat can escape but I really don't think it will be a problem.
