4 out of 5 eggsCool Toy

Pros: Easy to setup. Lots of features

Cons: Won't always go full screen for video for some reason. Might just be a software issue.

Other Thoughts: Worth the money if you like to watch TV at work like I do.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: simple and easy to use. the directions that came with it are super easy.

Cons: My router sucks at port forwarding. It was not till my 3rd router that I got it to work properly. I used a dlink, lynksis but finally got it working with a netgear. My friend has also had problems with other routers besides netgear not port forwarding correctly. Every netgear product I have ever bought is still working some dating back to 10mb/s hubs.

Other Thoughts: I love this thing, free cable anywhere i have the internet

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great everywhere

Pros: Very easy to setup if using router.
- If no router, need to use Internet Connection Sharing to assign it a temp IP and then setting the IP manually in the program. Works great after that.

Wide Assortment of video hookups.

Software is very easy to use and quite intuitive.

Works all the way in China

Cons: Only one person can connect at a time.

Needs massive amounts of upload bandwidth to use outside of home network.

Video Quality is blocky when the connection is less than 100Kbs
- I usually get between 500Kbs - 1.5Mbs connection - Gotta love the bandwidth on campus.

Other Thoughts: Did not try the IR controller.

4 out of 5 eggsPC TV Tuners are thing of the Past

Pros: I actually bought the Slingbox for my sister who lives abroad and it is hooked up to an over the air digital receiver. She was pleasantly surprised by the video and audio quality of the Slingbox and how easy it is to use. I've also tried it myself from a remote location with a laptop on a 1.5 mbps broadband connection and I could attest to my sister's assessment. However, there was a noticeable but negligible lag when I tested it. Install was a breeze for internal network use but it gets a bit tricky for remote access with multiple routers. Both routers need to be configured differently to successfully open up the ports. Although a mid to high end video card is reommended, it is not required to get a clear picture. Also, audio/video quality with in my network is excellent! Don't waste your money on a TV Tuner card. Get a Slingbox instead.

Cons: The only thing I would have liked to work better is the desktop remote controller as it takes about 2-3 sec to recognize and execute the commands.

Other Thoughts: You need to have a decent bandwidth to get the most out of this product.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent! Versatile!

Pros: Easy set up. Easy upgrade of software. Easy install on multiple platforms. Nice not having to have license to transfer s/w from PC to PC. Very versatile. Can hook up a webcam and stream that over the internet to watch your dog, cat, fish. Could hook up other devices as well. Can turn a regular video camera to stream via RCA cables also. Excellent product. Amazing invention.

Cons: A big bulky of a unit. Would be nice if multiple inputs could be streamed simultaneously. Asking for a lof on that one though.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME!!

Pros: WOW! a simple easy to use product that works great!! As a frequent world traveler its always nice to be able to keep in touch with the world at home

Cons: Check your upstream -- My sling box is at a buddy's house. he has 384k up/7meg down. When running the box I use up every drop of upstream

Other Thoughts: If you can hook up your home network, you can set this up. If your VCR is still blinking "12:00" you should get someone else to set it up for you

5 out of 5 eggsRevolutionary

Pros: Watch your tv,dvr, or tivo from anywhere in the world as long as you have a highspeed connection. Or Let anyone else in the world watch your tv.

Cons: can't have multiple streams, only one user at a time. composite input is 1/8 mini jack that also transports the audio. would prefer seperate jacks for each.

Would also be nice if they had sling software that was for a flash drive.

Other Thoughts: I think this is an awesome product. There have been times when we are on vacation where we would have like to record a show....now we can. The picture quality will vary depending on the connection and the video card in the PC. The picture quality is really good however, and the sound is i think even better.
Ive been using it at home with the laptop, and then had a friend hundreds of miles away download the sling software and had him watch my tv. He was really impressed at how good it looked.
With this type of technology, if you moved away from your hometown and miss the local balls games you could get a slingbox for a friend or relative and watch the local news, sports etc..from their tv esentially for free.
