Great 60 watt speakers for the money
- Pros: These are very good speakers. About 2 years ago, I bought 2 pair of Eclipse's SP6500. After a lot of use, they started to fail mechanically. I saw this great deal on Newegg for these speakers and decided to give 'em a try. So, I bought 2 pair. Lucky for me, these Polk dB651 speakers have surpassed the quality in both manufacturing and sound of my Eclipse SP6500. These Polk speakers produce a warm sound, but without being muddy. They also have very clear highs. In contrast, my Eclipse SP6500 had an overly pronounced midrange, which I did not like.
- Cons: As others have mentioned, the tweeters do stick out a bit.
I spent several hours trying to get them to fit in my back dash (they did fit fine, however, in my front door panels).
- Other Thoughts: I'm using a Kenwood Excelon DPX-701 headunit, and pushing about 80 watts RMS x 4 channels with my Kenwood Excelon KAC-X542 amplifier. Under these circumstances, these speakers sound great. I highly recommend them.
P.S. Contrary to what Newegg says, these speakers are 60 Watts not 180. Peak power is an irrelevant number that cheap manufactures (i.e. Pioneer, Pyramid, ect) like to use to B.S. noobs into purchasing their cheap and junky equipment. We audiophiles like to refer to "peak" power as I.L.S. Wattage, or "If Lightening Strikes" Wattage.
Superb Quality, Be Weary of tweeter
- Pros: Great sound quality even when not powered by an amp (Head unit 22RMS). Price was great, it allowed me to spring for overnight shipping.
- Cons: Common issue for this speaker, the Tweeter extend just a bit too far.
I prefer the low profile look for my car audio, I don't want people to see what I have but hear instead. Barely fit in the front behind door panels. For the back I had two cut out part of the stock panel leaving carpet and mounted the grill over the speaker to protect it under the carpet. Big Headache.
- Other Thoughts: Make sure you have space for the tweeter.

Right Quality For The Right Price
- Pros: I used to be a car stereo installer and this meets my standards for output, sound quality, and frequency response across the spectrum within this price range. Yeah, it's not Focal Utopias or MB Quart Q Components (or whatever other brand/series is considered top tier for quality these days), but I would say that they are on par with the older Polk Momo's and Inifinity Reference series from a decade ago that I use currently. I installed them in my wife's Scion Xa. I was quite impressed with the low mounting depth which is a concern in many vehicles and the fact that there was pretty minimal distortion with using a head unit's internal amp. Ultimately, I ended up powering both pairs of these using an olllld Soudnstream 5 channel amp (35W RMS per channel) and they are brilliant.
- Cons: It's not as easy as replacing your blinker fluid. (Seriously, these are spectacular)

- Pros: Fantastic
- Cons: Showed the weakness of my stock subaru head-unit
