The Samsung BD-P3600 Blu-ray Disc player brings you breathtaking high-definition images and the highest quality audio in the world! You’ll marvel at the clarity and full-color spectrum of every scene, while Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS HD decoding pulls you into the action.
Samsung technology also offers backward compatibility, letting you enjoy your favorite CDs and DVDs, and even WMA and MP3 discs. It up-converts regular DVDs to 1080p so less of your screen goes un-used even with regular DVDs. Wireless networking lets you connect the 802.11 b/g/n WiFi dongle to one of the two USB 2.0 ports, or you can also use the traditional wired Ethernet connection.
One HDMI port connects to your HDTV Home Theater System or other digital device. The unit is Anynet-compatible, so you can connect it to your other Anynet devices, and control them all with one remote. You’ve waited long enough to have a disc player that was equaled your HD TV and home theater system. Here it is!

Piece of Junk
- Pros: Netflix connectivity was nice
- Cons: This unit stopped working 1 hour after unpacking. It had a bad drive tray motor and needed to be sent in for repair. After 18 days, I finally get an email from CVE (Samsung's contract repair company) that the unit could not be repaired and that I would get a NEW replacement. Well, what I got was a refurbished, scratched up player with outdated firmware. On top of that, they PEELED OFF the Serial ID tag from my original unit and TAPED it onto this piece of junk they sent back to me. I sent them pictures of the FRAUDULENT exchange, and they agreed I should get a NEW unit. Well, 4 weeks later, still no new unit even though I sent the refurb back in. Every time I call back I get some lame excuse. The customer service is reprehensible!! I get promises for call backs, never happen. I get told it will ship the next day, never happens.
- Pros: Blu-ray playback is excellent, DVD also plays back at upconverted 1080p. Netflix works great, SD or HD, true on-demand streaming is now possible. And it's wireless!
- Cons: WLAN connectivity--had to disable router's firewall (belkin) to make it pass the ping test and get streaming to work. Probably not a big deal but why? PC's connect just fine but this HW works differently, not documented either. The unit is all plastic so kind of fragile compared to the Japanese AV equipment with metal casing.
- Other Thoughts: HDMI connected to Samsung 67" LED DLP, awsome setup. Why waste money on smaller LCD/heavy plasma? Who actually hangs TV on the wall? Newegg delivered in 3 days.

GREAT... When it works!
- Pros: Very quick blu-ray/DVD load times, comparable to PS3. Profile 2.0. Wireless dongle included. With 2.04 firmware, Blockbuster, Netflix, Pandora, YouTube streaming. Great picture! Remote compatible with universal remotes. 7.1 analog Dolby TruHD, DTS Master decoding.
- Cons: Has had to be repaired twice! The unit has gone in for servicing for the same problem twice. The problem is with loading blu-rays. Started working perfectly and then slowly would take more than one try to load. Progressively got worse, then wouldn't load any blu-rays. DVD's work great.
CVE did not return the unit in the original packaging the first time, was someone else's box. The second, was not in Samsung packaging at all and was floating around loose in box. Front bezel is now cracked, but fortunately, the unit works correctly now.
- Other Thoughts: I really love this unit when it works. Samsung's service company (CVE) is not good. I am a big Samsung fan (BD-P1400 blu-ray, BD-P3600 blu-ray, 72" DLP rear projector), but this unit has been a disappointment. If you get one that works, then you will love it. If you have problems, CVE will really disappoint.
I have mine connected to my Linksys wireless-N Gigabit router via WPA-PSK with password and MAC address filtering and it works great. Netflix streaming is way cool! "HD" streaming is about DVD up converted quality, maybe slightly better. Netflix limitation, NOT BD-P3600.
Immediately update to 2.04 (or later, if available) firmware when receiving the unit for best results.
Even knowing what I do about the service, I'd probably buy another. I would have given it a 5-egg, but the service really cost the score! When working, the item is great.
So far so good
- Pros: Great picture (DVDs, Netflix and USB). YouTube functioned well and after updating the firmware it seemed to remember the login credentials to access my PC. The buttons on the remote were not laid out as well as I would have it but you can't have everything.
- Cons: Occasionally locks up when using some of the internet/intranet services and requires powering off and back on. This is a pain and I am sure that a firmware fix is all it will take to remedy this.
Realfast
- Pros: It looks pretty cool, really thin, great remote the best thing about this model versus other BD players is the speed, most I've seen are very slow to start, this one as soon as I power it on the BD kicks in the HDMI channel selection switches to the BD and start playing, unlike the Sharp BD I sent back cause I thought it was defective, turns out it was not it was just very slow to start 7 to 10mins was common start up time
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Newegg as usual very prompt with a very competitive price
