5 out of 5 eggsNice Set

Pros: Vibrant picture, bought this TV to replace a 32" LCD. Plasma's picture quality is superior to LCD's by far. The natural colors and high contrast really bring images to life. There is absolutely no response lag. This TV is in my basement, where my previous LCD would ghost till it warmed up from the 60 degree room, not a problem with this TV. Input labeling is handy and the picture adjustments are well laid out. If you are worried about burn in, don't be. This TV has a pixel orbiter feature that prevented burn in when I coincidently left a still image on the screen for over 3 hours. I fell asleep watching a hockey game and woke up to a still satellite screen with a logo on it. Amazingly, zero retention. Plasmas have come a long way, my 1st set had multiple burn in's, this set doesn't even temporarily ghost. Go for it, buy plasma.

Cons: No side panel input & Only 2 HDMI's. Also, the menu's and manual are in broken English. When you connect a new source the screen will prompt you to switch with this text: "A new source detected, do you wish to enjoy this?"

Other Thoughts: Set will not power on with remote until the power button on the unit is pressed. This should be pointed out in bold text somewhere, do not disconnect your TV like I did without pressing the button first.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV

Pros: Good looking set.
Finds over the air stations i never thought existed.
The remote is very responsive, unlike the other dumb dell I have.
Lightweight, especially for the unit's screensize.
Very thin for a plasma.
QAM tuner lets me snatch HD channels the cable company provides for their analog customers for free
Plenty of outputs.

Cons: Remote isnt backlighted.
The TV only rotates about 30 degrees on its stand. That isnt a huge deal tho.

Other Thoughts: I got it 550 shipped white glove from another vender. Otherwise I would have gotten it from newegg (like i do everything else).

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value for the $$

Pros: I bought this TV soley for playing Xbox 360 and the occasional movie for the kids. Even at only 720p, the picture is vivid and responsive and has an excellent price to performance ratio. Movie clarity of standard DVD's on an up converting DVD player via HDMI look more like High Def.

Cons: No audio output made it a PITA to setup with surround sound. No screensaver means I have to be mindfull of leaving it on pause for too long.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: For the price you can't beat it. This was my first Plasma tv and my first purchase at newegg.
MY folks liked it so much they bought it off of me, so now I have to get another one LOL.
Its a perfect tv for watching movies and playing Xbox with HDMI cables!

Cons: Not really a con, but its my own fault for not knowing better.
I bought this Plasma TV to use with my gaming PC.
While it did show a great picture with it and I was picking off people with my sniper rifle was easier than ever in "Battlefield 2142", I was not aware at the time of the purchase and more more advanced tech friends told me that certain PC images could burn into the screen after a while and never go away and ruin the TV.
I called LG and they told me that it should not be a problem if as long as I don't have the same image on there for hours at a time.
Still its something I don't want to worry about in the future. So my high tech friends said I should go for a 240hz led lcd instead. To bad they cost close to 3 times as much as this TV for around the same size.

Other Thoughts: I wish all hdtvs had a DVI connection as well.

5 out of 5 eggsflawless motion, no burn-in

Pros: The contrast in the blacks is so good that you can make out textures in hair and dark clothes. Motion in HD is crisp. Colors are bright and well balanced with lots of settings. The menu system is well thought out and highly customizable. The best part is that there have been some careless mistakes with leaving images up on the screen and there as been NO BURN-IN! Not even a hint of ghosting. Just beautiful, flawless colors.

Cons: The pixels on the similarly priced Samsung blend better for a smooth picture. But at reasonable viewing distance, I can't tell a difference.

Other Thoughts: I shopped in department stores and compared the handful of similarly priced plasmas. The blacks and colors are beautiful on all the brands. I chose the LG because of the balanced colors and the lots and lots of features in the menu.

Menu is easy to navigate

Cons: DOA Optical out port is inop Crackling,Snapping ,Popping
LG Support is bad I called them up after 1/2 Hr they agreed with me the optical port is bad then they tell me that there is no service tech in the area i live and then silence? Then he tells me to live with it till he can find a service tech to repair it

5 out of 5 eggsMy first plasma is a beast!!!

Pros: Great Blacks, Deep rich colors. Easy menu options and and navigation. Runs cooler than all my friends plasma and doesn't heat up the room it is in. No Dead Pixels!! Plenty of hookups for all my HDTV and STD needs. No Image retention...at all. No phosphor trails. No burn in threat. I leave it on 'Orbiter' in Option menu and it prevents all the above. I play Quake 3 Arena and Unreal 3 both with HUD (Heads up display) visible and no IR...whatsoever. I surf for hours at a time...with the Google Chrome desktop visible at all times...no IR....or ghosting. (I watch and play everything through my PC. No DVI but a few HDMI slots. I don't have cable)
No humming noises. Most channels turn over quickly. No sense of lag. Remote does its job with no complaints. Don't have to point it exactly at sensor...there is a little play and room for error. I watch in semi lit room. There is always a light on....so if you are sensitive about reflections...this baby is one big mirror.

Cons: My order entered the twilight zone on the day I purchased it. My everlasting thanks to operator Jackie at New Egg who broke her back between that day and the next. to straighten out the snafu and make sure that not only was my LG removed from the twilight zone...but that it got to me in one piece. Jackie...you are the bomb!!!

Other Thoughts: I did the 250 hour break in images thingy with contrast, sharpness and brightness turned down to 40, took care not to watch any media that left black bars on the top, bottom or sides of the picture....and left my screensaver to drop at 1 minute after desktop inactivity.
Did not bother wasting time with finding and comparing the model against others...at brick and mortar shops. It was unlikely that I would find the LG in a Best Buy Magnolia showroom with the appropriate lack of bright bloody klieg lights...beside the lack of HD signals being fed to the displays...so I did not bother. I hunted forums and interacted with owners of this model once I had narrowed down my choice to the LG..
Some SD channels are unwatchable...most are okay...and a few are excellent. HD of course is HD and does not play around though I must say that CBS and NBC news and drama programming have the richest pictures. I may just get HD cable for the holidays and a fat HD DVR. This won't be my last LG...

4 out of 5 eggsGood Solid Plasma TV

Pros: Excellent picture quality even for a 720p. Adjustable brightness. 2 million to 1 dynamic contrast. 3 HDMI ports. Numerous features for the tv. Good sound quality. Overall a good to excellent tv for its price range.

Cons: Not many. The picture quality of the Samsung looked better to me than this tv when I went and saw it at Sears side by side. However, this tv has more features and has a 2 million to 1 dynamic contrast compared to the 1 million to 1 dynamic contrast on the samsung.

Other Thoughts: Bought this TV at sears for $629 + tax. Overall its a solid TV. The picture quality was slightly less than that of the samsung 42" 720p. If it had been the same this would deserve a 5/5. The samsung was also $70 more at sears at $699 so there was definitely a trade off there based on the price. The weight of the TV wasn't too bad. I was able to carry it up the stairs by myself without too much of an issue. Remember when comparing plasma vs LCD, LCD is always brighter but plasma is better with motion (espically sports). People make a big deal out of 720p vs 1080p..and the only real difference is literally 3-4ft. If you sit back 3-4ft with a 720p it looks about the same as a 1080p. Also keep in mind that because plasma uses gas florescence, it will get dimmer over time. However, the 1/2 life of the fluorescence is about 11 yrs so its not that big of a deal. Its recommended that you don't go below 5000:1 static ratio. This one has 30,000:1. Google LCD vs Plasma for more info.
