5 out of 5 eggsGreat so Far

Pros: This is my 2nd Olevia. I bought a 37 inch about 1 1/2 year ago..

I just bought this 40in at Christmas and Wow, the picture is even better than the 37 inch.

OTA and DirecTV looks great in HD and the other regular movies are nice as well. But I do like that full screen look much better.

Cons: Well, right after I got the 40 Inch set up, about 2 days later, my 37 inch HDTV DVI went bad. I had my Computer hooked to that connection. So I hope I do NOT see this happen with my 40 incher.

Other Thoughts: If this lasts I'll be very satisfied. This really has a nice picture and sound is great also .. I connected to some high priced speakers setting apart, but changed back to the tv speakers. Way to loud on the high priced, which I've had for years. Great price BTW, so if you're looking for a good HDTV, look no further. And also check these out before you accept from UPS or whatever shipper is. My box looked like it went thru a tornado..

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding!!

Pros: great picture, handsome design, strong value.

Cons: suspect packaging, remote buttons feel unrefined, manual in pdf format. unproven reliability.

Other Thoughts: As long as the reliability holds, I won't regret the purchase. After a bit of tweaking, the picture is outstanding. Sports broadcasts in HD were "glinty" until I reduced the contrast and sharpness substantially, to about 40. I used the THX Optimizer on a DVD to calibrate the picture for movies. Now all I can say is, "Wow!". After you get the picture right, watch a Pixar movie. You will be blown away by the detail. Next, watch the Discovery channel in HD. Mesmerizing. I cannot tell the difference between the image on this TV and the major, and more expensive, brands I've seen. The question, again, is how it will stack up in terms of durability and whether Olevia will stand behind their product. That aside, I can wholeheartedly recommend this LCD. BTW Newegg shipping was fast and relatively inexpensive. However, factory packaging is not great. Foam on the corners, but nothing to protect the screen. Check the box for punctures before signing!

4 out of 5 eggsTV review

Pros: The price. Simple! For a tv this size NewEgg dropped the price to sub 900 and I couldn't pass it up. It has all of the inputs you need. Removable speakers for wall mounting is very nice.

Cons: It's not the thinnest LCD I've ever seen. It may be 3-4 inches thick which surprised me. The remote looks like something from 70's Star Trek rejection pile. It does work fine though and who uses the remote with the TV anyway? It's a little dark watching SDTV for some reason.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 51" CRT Sony HDTV to this LCD. I really like HD channels but sports are tough to watch. There's a lot of ghosting going on. I haven't watched any big action fliks on it yet since the furniture hasn't arrived and my sorround isn't hooked up until then but it looks like it's going to be great for that. Sports are the painful thing right now. I used Closed Captioning and the white letters on black background look like they are underwater, moving and twisting ever so slightly. Again for the same price, I would buy it again, but if you want a perfect picture you should look to spend some more money.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice PQ

Pros: For the money, this TV delivers the best PQ I have seen. Thru HTPC, DVI to HDMI 1080i is spectaclular. Over the air HD is awesome.

Cons: None that have surfaced. The remote is ok and is better than a more costly HDTV I recently purchased.

Other Thoughts: This TV is also used for xbox. 480p looks very good as well. I have not tried PC games, but suspect they would look good as well. Great buy!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Happy with the general picture quality - 720p is sharp and crisp. Works perfectly as xbox 360 monitor. Speakers can be removed for wall mounting.

Cons: Like all other reviews mention, remote is bad.
Nonupgradable firmware - would like to get rid of the bug with sharpness settings not saving for second component input. OSM in general has pretty slow response.

Other Thoughts: First, after connecting to Comcast receiver, all SD channels shows were blocky and pixelated - appears default output on my Motorola 6412 DVR is 1080i. After switching it to 720p everything is nice now.

4 out of 5 eggsLooks good

Pros: I've just hooked up 480I & 480P so far as I don't have my Dish-HD box yet, but it looks fine with both

Cons: I'll agree with the old-looking remote, but really - who cares?

Other Thoughts: So far I'm very happy with this TV. I never could have found a better deal, and I looked hard!

5 out of 5 eggsSimply put - amazing!

Pros: Simple to set up, amazing picture clarity and brightness. HD 720p images are incredible and razor sharp. included speakers are fair quality.

Cons: As is usual, the remote is pretty bad, but only used it for initial setup. Some 480i/480p shows come out pixelated.

Other Thoughts: I never thought I would enjoy my TV this much. The black-to-black levels are good (not excellent, but good). It is extremely heavy to lift when setting up a wall mount. Definitely a good buy.

2 out of 5 eggsNice when it worked

Pros: The picture on this TV is very good when fed via component or HDMI.

Cons: My TV died after 3 weeks of ownership. I have had an extraordinarily difficult time securing a replacement part from Olevia and as of this date still do not have a working TV.

Other Thoughts: Take into account the possibility of something going wrong when you think about buying this model. You may, like me, find it unusually hard to get warranty work done.

4 out of 5 eggsOne thing

Pros: Still has an awsome picture. Easy swtching between inputs if you read the manual and use the hidden buttons @ the bottom of the remote.

Cons: The "stereo" output in the back is not controled by the volume on the TV, you have to turn it up or down with the stereo you have it plugged into. I think that's the only truely lame thing about this unit.

Other Thoughts: I know a bunch of people already have stereo/surround-sound systems with remote control so thins might not be much of an issue. Being something of a cheapskate, in order for me to get something that sounds as good as my Audio Res**rch SP-4A that actually has a remote for it I'd end up dropping twice what the TV is worth.
You guys with bigger pockets probably already up-graded. Sorry about the mild rant but the stereo outs on every TV I've ever owned were controlled by the internal volume on the TV, untill now.

4 out of 5 eggsNICE!!!!!

Pros: More inputs than most people need. Nice picture.

Cons: nothing really . . . the price dropped a bit after I ordered mine.
&)*&*$_&@+&%!+%&.

Other Thoughts: WAS Hella terrified that UPS was delivering. But they manged not to drop or destroy the 110lb TV. The UPS guy was pretty good about letting me open and check the contents. There was only one corner that was squished a little and there was no damage. The packaging is pretty good and stout. They'd almost have to try to crush one of these things.
