You'd expect that a great monitor maker would also make great TVs, and you would be right. This 16" HDTV from ViewSonic combines the best of both worlds for an excellent dual purpose screen. It starts out with a 1366x768 resolution for an incredibly detailed picture. The 8ms response time and dynamic 10,000:1 contrast ratio deliver an image you'd expect to see on larger sets.
Because it's a ViewSonic, the obligatory VGA input goes along with the coax input for cable or antenna signals. There are also 2 HD inputs-1 HDMI and 1 component. A composite port and an S-Video plug round out the connection choices. Cable, computer, game console, hook them all up with room for more.

Great TV
- Pros: Great picture, pretty good sound, great price
- Cons: Can't think of any, you get a great TV for a great price!
- Other Thoughts: I bought this for my gf for an anniversary present for her room and both of us love it. I would consider myself very knowledgeable in electronics and TVs and this is a very sharp LCD TV. I'm not sure what this guy was talking about who also reviewed it, I think he just had a bad day and felt like complaining, because everything he said I find false. This is a great TV.
Viewsonic almost got it right
- Pros: Just the right size for a kitchen or den. Decent picture when looking straight on.
- Cons: Terrible sound quality - sounds very tinny, like an old drive in movie speaker. Tried all of the different sound adjustments but none made the sound any better. Cannot connect to external speakers either. No tilt adjustments (although the pictures on the Newegg site show the screen tilted). Don't see how you could use this on a PC (especially considering the lack of position adjustments).
- Other Thoughts: The specs show 160 degree viewing angle - but that is not the case. Picture only looks good when looking straight at the screen at the same height. With no tilt adjustments it means you may need to mount it using an adjustable wall mount. If I could return it I would - only because of the very poor sound quality.

- Pros: Very sharp picture and great color. Love the thinness and easy setup.
- Cons: Must warm up a few moments while showing the ViewSonic screen saver. But very briefly
- Other Thoughts: I have had a 22" in my sun room now for nearly a year. Because it has been so reliable and good I am getting this 16" one for my husband's new office! He uses the 22" at home all the time. I also don't know what the man below is talking about. The specs say nothing about the ability to tilt, etc.
Just a review
- Pros: Looks good and fits well under the kitchen cabinets - only had 14 inches. The picture is fine as long as you don't get too far off in the weeds. It does tilt, so that helps the viewing some. The set up went very smooth and we can view a whole lot of channels even without the box on the cable.
- Cons: The sound is terrible. If anyone says otherwise, they need their hearing checked. I wonder why ViewSonic can put a better speaker on my desk monitor than on their TV. I would return it for that reason alone and is the reason I only gave it three eggs.
- Other Thoughts: If you are limited for space, this will fulfill that need very well.
Decent Kitchen TV for the price
- Pros: Easy to use/setup. So far we have used for standard analog and HDTV straight off the cable (no DVD playing yet and may use as a PC monitor at some point but that was not the reason we got it). Since this unit has a QAM filter we can pick up all non scrambled HD signals off our cable w/o a box. The picture quality for both HD and analog is excellent.
Others have complained about the sound but I would rate it a B considering the limited physical size and 2.5W amplifier, it meets my expectations. In setup music mode it sounds fine on all channels-yes there is no bass but what do you expect?!
- Cons: The picture quality viewing angle as mentioned in other reviews is not the best. It does tilt up/down which helps somewhat but when you get about 30 degrees (60 degree total viewing angle) off center either way the darks especially looks pastey. Our point of comparison is our 2 year old 42" Sony LCD HD Bravia which has about a 170degree viewing angle and cost just under $2K so this is like comparing a small subcompact car to a Mercedez but it could have been better. Perhaps we can buy a $25 under cabinet mount to make it more flexible for turning but for now we are just trying out a couple countertop locations.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this for my wife as a Christmas present to use in the kitchen and perhaps as a spare (for a bedroom or hobby room TV), it fits that purpose fine. For $190 after rebate we can live with that, at 6 lbs it's much easier to lug around than our 25 year old portable with limited channels.
