Mutiple troubles!
- Pros: Great Black Friday price, quick shipping by Newegg.
- Cons: 1. When I got the TV the original Sceptre tape seal was broken and had new tape to seal the box. Then I find a RMA shipping label in the box. Not Good. 2. Turn on the TV and three attempts to autoscan cable channels fail each time, locking up the TV so it has to be unplugged to restart it. Did get it to autoscan over the air but never through the cable. 3. The TV would lock up and give me the black screen of death requiring it to be unplugged to do anything at all.
- Other Thoughts: Newegg did issue an RMA and took care of the shipping cost. I agreed to accept a new one if they had it in stock when the old one was returned. I just got notice the TV was accepted and within hours got notice the new one is shipping. I am hoping for better luck this time. Newegg has always stood behind their products and did so here.
Power supply lasted a whole hour!
- Pros: Cheap on Black Friday. nicer than the 15" analog CRT TV it replaces. When working the picture is decent for the price.
- Cons: Sound could be louder. Sluggish to respond to buttons on remote which results in extra button presses so you overshoot where you wanted to go.
- Other Thoughts: Set up all the channels before mounting it on the wall, then put up the wall mount, hooked it up and thought I was off to the races, but when I turned it on nothing happened. A little debugging and I found the wall wart power supply had died. Being the sort who shops at Newegg I had one around to try and it worked fine, so now I've got to see if Sceptre will send me a new wall wart without RMA'ing the whole thing - pain in the neck!
Very good deal for the price!
- Pros: I bought this for $129.99, so it is hand down a very good deal for a 19-in HDTV LCD. It is very hard to get one with all the specs at this price so it is a good buy. The picture quality is great and the functionality is very user-friendly. Couldn't ask for anything better for the price.
- Cons: Nothing so far, except that its glossy black design is a dust magnet...
- Other Thoughts: This is a good-quality, entry-level TV for a small room or dorm...
