Designed for datacenters and AV enthusiasts, Panasonic's TH-50PH9UK is a 50" plasma display monitor. The 10,000:1 contrast ratio and new Real Black Creation technology provide a crisp display with startling clarity. Its newly-developed phosphor technology significantly resists burn-in as effectively as CRT displays.
This display is designed to be part of a home theater setup with its own surround sound system, cable/satellite box and other equipment. Because of this, the screen is surrounded by a slim, attractive frame.
With Panasonic's multi-function input slot system, this large-screen panel offers seamless integration in virtually any AV, PC or interactive environment. This is an exceedingly versatile screen that will easily serve as the hub of your multimedia entertainment center. You may never have reason to leave the house again!

wow!
- Pros: This is one of the best Plamsa TV's out right now. The picture is awsome out of the box, it has very crisp images. The colors are super accurate, especially the black levels. Ordered on Thursday and received it on Tuesday (az). Arrived very well packaged. Thanks newegg.
- Cons: These are not so much cons, but things that could be improved. Obviously the biggest thing is this TV is ONLY A MONITOR! You need to buy a DVI or HDMI slot if needed, and speakers, tuner, etc. You may want to buy a Calibration DVD, so you can get your color levels and picture as accurate as possible. I live on the third floor and there was only one AIT delivery person, so I had to help him with it up the stairs. There is no way one person can handle this thing.
- Other Thoughts: I use a media center PC. I didn't purchase any addition slots, just used the VGA port, which BTW has just as good performance as DVI or HDMI. (just make sure you set refresh rate to 60hz, or the picture will be a little fuzzy) DVD's look awsome,(ALMOST as good as HD content) as I use PowerDVD which upconverts to 720P. I have my Klipsch Promedia 5.1 hooked up through my X-FI card, and this is about the sweetest setup I could ask for.(for the price point)
Safe, high-quality choice
- Pros: Picture, design, expansion slots (HDMI, D-SUB, component, S-Video), Supports both PAL and NTSC signals.
- Cons: No audio out; no computer-oriented expansion slots (e.g. USB hub etc -- but they don't really belong in a TV like this anyway).
- Other Thoughts: I purchased this screen because it was one of the few screens that support both the European standard PAL and the North American standard NTSC. I was lucky this came on sale -- it's also one of the best-reviewed screens, almost on-par with Pioneer which is known as the best plasma manufacturer (but at a price). And it shows. The picture is really good, based on my subjective reviews and limited experience with plasmas.
Aside from the PAL support, what sold the product for me was the simplistic design. It goes beyond the styling -- the product comes with zip ties that allow the cables to be bunched together before they dangle down from a wall-mounted screen. I covered it with a "cable sock" so a bunch of cables isn't an issue.
The expansion slots are great for configuring the device for exactly your needs; HDMI really makes a difference, so I recommend getting that asap.
The one thing to note is that 4:3 videos will have gray bars on the sides, to protect the plasma. Not an is

awesome picture
- Pros: Great shipping, company called me 5 days after ordering, met them at the house that afternoon, there was a ding on the box , so the driver opened it and everything was fine.
Easy set up, after running out and buying a wall hanger.
I bought the HDMI card , just push it in and you're ready to go.
- Cons: none really, the hanger and HDMI card added to the overall cost
- Other Thoughts: I have the DVR plugged into the HDMI , the Wii in the component, and the laptop on the S-video, everything works and looks great.
Even with prices dropping this was still a bargain.
Wowzers
- Pros: Awesome style - sleek design - awesome picture quality
- Cons: None really - except, It does not come with a stand !
- Other Thoughts: I bought this TV - I had a $1700 budget (Which I went a little above) After reading many many reviews and forums I purchased it... Ordered it monday - and it arrived Friday with no major dings in the box... Standard shipping... I was suprised by the shipping time with AIT..
Got the TV - Took out of box, ready to put it on my tv stand - OOOPS the box does not have a built-in stand.... So it is currently laying against the stand on the rug...
Amazed by the size and picture quality on HD channels - Much better than my 32" Phillips LCD tv, both in SD and HD
I will be MUCH happier once my stand arrives this week.
- Pros: Order it on a friday and got it on the following monday!! Cant beat that! Thanks NEWEGG!
The box the plasma came in was well built, pretty thick carbroad. Has four hand slots for two poeple to carry. Notice while carry the box that the plasma inside would rock front to back, that the plasma floats, at least the top half. That seem odd to me, still there are very thick foam blocks to protect it. I have never bought anything where the device inside would float, but any how I inspected the box for damage and there as none so I signed for it.
It is a very clean and beautiful plasma tv. The picture rendition is phenominal! We have it mounted above the fireplace with simlar type bezel picture frames on both sides.
- Cons: PC input does not have audio input.
- Other Thoughts: I am very impressed with this plasma tv, it is my first purhcase of such items and I am glad I picked the right one thanks to the community feedbacks.
I am also glad I pruchased it from NEWEGG, eventhough they are not local but there service gives me that impression.
Make sure you have the correct cables.
