Antec 900 Ultimate Gaming Cases

Antec Nine Hundred

The Most Versatile Gaming Case Ever!
Ultimate gamer case? You bet! With a partially perforated package that still finds room for four huge yet quiet fans, you have a seriously cool gaming case, and that's no joke. You can expect the Antec 900 to be ready for lift off, especially with the 200mm TriCool exhaust fan and perforated port atop this stylish case. Even mount a 120mm fan on the side panel! Contrary to some expectations, this case is extremely quiet, unless you have all the fans going at their highest settings, at which point you might hear...something.

The 5.25" bays will hold optical drives, burners, or even (gasp!) your aging floppy drive, and up to six 3.5" drives can be installed in cages behind the fans, arranged along the front any way you like. This case provides a plethora of possibilities, with room to explore new configurations of all the pieces. The PSU, in a departure, is at the bottom of the case, for better stability and thermal environment for the CPU.

The side window on the case, in addition to letting you show things off, provides additional ventilation, either by way of the vented screen or by the fourth fan in the box mounted into plastic for a clear and elegant installation. This is a sturdy case built of steel, with enough cooling technology to keep things frosty in the hottest action. Take one home today and build yourself the "coolest" rig around!

1 out of 5 eggsNo longer a fan of Antec

Pros: Good airflow, room for big cards, quiet

Cons: Faulty USB 3.0 ports, Poor customer support, difficult disassembly

Other Thoughts: This is my second rig built using an Antec 900. The first one has had no problems for 7 years, but the recent version I bought in November has faulty USB 3.0 ports on the front. One doesn't work, and the other doesn't register as a 3.0 port.

A little research determines that there have been several problems with the 3.0 USB ports, most related to faulty hardware.

A call to customer service directed me to the website to generate a ticket, where a less than helpful rep by the name of Enrick Calalang posted this gem of a response...

Hi Jeff MacIntosh,
The 900 USB Modules have been out of stock since April of 2013, I would recommend getting an aftermarket one. Unless you're willing to wait? No one knows when they're coming, if they're even coming...

Something similar to these
(Rep posted two links to aftermarket Rosewill USB hubs here)

So let me get this straight, they have been out of stock since April of 2013? I bought this in November of 2014. Poor excuse to not honor a warranty or replace a defective part. Needless to say, this will be my last Antec case. I am very disappointed in how they handle known problems

5 out of 5 eggs8 years and still kicking!

Pros: The case has lots of room for expansion and airflow. The design works well with having the power supply mounted at the bottom and a large fan at the top of the case, allowing the heat to rise and flow out of the case. Top fan is effective at lower settings and runs pretty quiet.

Cons: The 120mm fans on the front, back, and side of case can be very loud. Lack of filters in the case cause a LOT of dust. Changing out a drive can be a struggle because you have to remove both side panels and unscrew thumbscrews which don't alway fit in the holes provided.

Other Thoughts: This case has been my workhorse for 8 years. I am building a new system at the moment and am planning to reuse this case to house it. Definitely going to consider liquid cooling, air filters, and anything else that can get the noise down a bit.

2 out of 5 eggsObsolote case with good flow but a nightmare to work with

Pros: It comes 4 Fans included with individual speed controls, Direct airflow to the video card if you have no hard drives installed or cables in the drive cage, And this case came out before 2007...

Cons: It's a nightmare to build and maintain.
1. Removing the drive cages is difficult, It requires you to remove both side panels and remove 8 thumb screws to get it out.
2. No cable routing holes for the power supply, Nor there is space behind the motherboard tray to route the cables even if you drill the holes yourself.
3. You need to open the case to access those individual fan speed controls.
4. No dust filter anywhere, With all the fans the case clogged up easily with absurd amount of dust within a short period of time.
5. No where to hide the extra cables from the power supply.
6. While there is room for a long video card, You can't install a HDD on the opposite side. Also once a video card is installed, The space is extremely cramped and very difficult to reach those SATA ports on most motherboards if you have to make any changes.
7. Unlike most modern cases, The power supply fan is facing upward instead of downward because there is no grill for the power supply. Why do I want a power supply blowing warm air at my already hot video card?
The list goes on...

4 out of 5 eggsANTEC 900

Pros: Good fan placement, keeps the system running very cool. I like the design of this case a lot, good for simple builds. If you are just looking to add one GPU and no water cooling I would recommend this case, if you plan on adding anymore aftermarket cooling or another GPU I would definitely buy a case with more space. Docking an egg due to front audio ports being Inoperable.

Cons: Biggest complaint I have with this case is that the Front Panel Audio/MIC inputs absolutely do not work right out of the box, could be a conflict with the MOBO but I doubt it.
Crammed cable management, took me a lot of playing around to get cables where I want them, still could be better.
Not really satisfied with the loudness of the stock fans, I have them at the mid range settings because of the noise, plan on replacing all of the fans on this case at some point this year with some that are more quiet. I have to have the 200mm exhaust fan at Low settings or it is way too loud.

Other Thoughts: This case gets extremely dusty, feel like I need to dust it every week, wish I would have got one with dust filters but other than that I really like the look of this case, it is built rock solid. The case specifications need to be updated in this case - easier fan/HD/SSD upgrade capabilities/Cable Management....
If you don't mind dusting it out every week or two I would recommend this case, the audio ports doesn't seem to be a common issue with this case.

5 out of 5 eggsAntec 900

Pros: The air flow is amazing. Nice blue color all around. Got it on sale for 99.99$. Plenty of space inside to build a nice computer. USB in the front on top, as well as audio plugs. See through side panel.

Cons: None honestly. I am bad with wire management, so mine looks a little messy.

Other Thoughts: I added one extra fan on the side, that it didn't come with.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid case.
No side ports to interfere with laying it down on its side.
The fans are powerful and pretty quite. No whiny fans at all.
The blue LEDs are my thing and I love the case's color.
Has two side panels for easy access, which made installation much easier than my previous case.
The 200mm top fan is a life saver. Without it my previous case would overheat regularly.
It's just a great, functional, and cool looking case.

Cons: Can't think of any. I'm smitten!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat air flow, terrible cable management

Pros: Tons of room
Great air flow with the 4 fans
Window on the side looks great
Reasonably priced
Antec customer service is supposedly great (haven't had to deal with yet personally)

Cons: Cable management is terrible. Worth docking 2 eggs for IMO. This case has been out for a while now with a couple different revisions and Antec has added 2 holes for cable management - Why they can't just add 2 more is beyond me.

Buyers shouldn't have to mod a brand new case to get any decent form of cable management.

Other Thoughts: If you don't have an issue drilling a few holes in the case, I would rate this a 5 and recommend it for sure. Really, it's not very hard to do but I know some people like to avoid drilling. If you do want to buy a case and use it as is, I would look elsewhere.

Also wish the LED/Power wires were just a BIT longer. Barely reached the bottom left hand corner of my mobo running behind the board and out the PSU tab.
