Item should be calld Ice Cage
- Pros: It is a great cooling solution for hard drives. Brought my temps down from 102f - 105f to 75f 80f. Fits nice. Makes an old beige computer look cool!
- Cons: None. Installing the hard drives into the cage can be a little tricky with little room to work with, but thats the fun of it I guess.
- Other Thoughts: I never cared about hard drive cooling, but now that I have built a home server with multiple large hard drives, it seems that cooling the hard drives is a good idea for longer life. I was sceptical about the large temperature reduction that my home server was indicating, so I opened up the box to touch the hard drives, and they were cool to touch. This thing is really cooling the hard drives, not just the sensors.
Love the iCage, use them in every machine
- Pros: I have over 50 of these between home and work. They're excellent in any of the M9/Armor/Kandalf cases, or even in the off-brand cases I've seen. No compatibility problems, the fan keeps the drives 5-7 degrees cooler all around and they look great to boot. When these go on sale, I usually pick up another dozen as I know I'll use them.
- Cons: None that I can think of.
Awesome!
- Pros: Beats using 3 5.25 to 3.5 adapters. Fits in a standard case with enough room for 5.25 front plates/vents to cover it. Keeps the drives nice and cool. Fan is quiet. Plenty of screws.
- Cons: The blue leds are distracting.
- Other Thoughts: I put this is an old beige full size atx case under my dvdrw drive. It fit and mounted perfectly. And to my surprise it gave me plenty of room for the screened 5.25 face plate vents I use.
