Do not buy... until Abit pulls their head out of their posterior.
- Pros: Well thought out design, no ports etc blocking the main heat sink, obsolete FDC is down and out of the way, and a whopping 6 fan headers (4-pin CPU, 3-pin sys and 4 3-pin aux).
- Cons: To bad it wouldn't POST. Board has a bad CMOS. Trying to contact Abit to get a replacement was absolutely useless. No way in hell I'm paying the parts store for a new CMOS either.
- Other Thoughts: I will RMA the board for a replacement board, but even if it works, my review still stands.
The consumer is NOT the beta tester, nor should they have to PAY to be one. If your quality control can't detect a bad CMOS before shipping to a vendor (i.e, you didn't test the CMOS when you got it, and you didn't test it on the board), then you reap what you sow.
Abit RMA
- Pros: Works great! Although I wish it had the 8-pin CPU plug. Just incase.
- Cons: Failed to POST a few times after changing certain BIOS settings. What I did was plug my enclosure's reset button into the BIOS reset pins. This way I can easily reset the BIOS without opening my case. Plus who uses a hard-reset anymore. Works great for the most part. If you changing BIOS settings, just watch out.
- Other Thoughts: ABIT is easy to deal with for returns, but don't call them on the phone. Do it through the website and it'll be much easier.
They'll contact you through email. https://rma.abit-usa.com

first abit board
- Pros: I actually have the Fatal1ty version of this board, posting here cuz it's out of stock, had the board for about 5 weeks. great board, my first ABIT board. I've always run ASUS and Gigabyte, I very happy with ABIT so far.
- Cons: possible con with this model. what is usually a con on boards like this for those of use who still use floppy drives for RAID install, is having the FDD connector at the bottom of the board. if in a full tower the FDD cable is never long enough, the pics look as though this model comes with a shorter FDD cable, the Fatal1ty model comes with a long round FDD cable that is plenty long for full towers. my FDD is at the top of the tower and the FDD board connector is at the bottom, the cable is perfect.
- Other Thoughts: I believe the Fatal1ty version has more clocking features than this model, but overall it is still a great design and quality board. ABIT is now on my list of trusted boards.
- Pros: More than enough SATA and USB slots, placement of everything seems to be good. Nothing was blocked when I installed an oversized Rosewill fan, and the 8800GTS card which tends to run a little large. It's also nice that it has all of the sound ports on a seperate card you install in the back. I hate too much onboard stuff - just more to break
- Cons: It's got LCD lights and an LCD display (that looks like a 2 digit clock display) - I don't know what any of this is for, and I wish I knew without having to read the manual. I guess I also kind of wish the system board had a serial and paralell port - but this is about as stealth as you can get (and I've only used serial once, but I'm sure that will change now that I don't have the port.. usually the way it works) That's about all I could come up with
- Other Thoughts: Its a system board. I've never had one die on me, and as long as it does what it's supposed to - I can't complain.
OC out the......
- Pros: I have been using abit for a while and they always seem to have a lot of overcloking features. This one is great. Used it build a mid level gaming rig. Took x2 4000 to 2.75 stable. Got it to load windows over 3.0 but not that stable. Could go higher with more know how. If you want to game this is a good choice.
- Cons: The only con I can come up with is the color is not my fave. It would look much better in black. All of my Abit boards are off red some how but I don't buy this stuff for looks I buy it for performance.
- Other Thoughts: Mean people suck.
