4 out of 5 eggsVery Good Board

Pros: 1. Display codes are nice for diagnosing
2. The silent Otes is VERY quiet. LOVE the fanless design. Was able to still fit the GIGABYTE G-Power GH-PDU21-SC on the board!
3. Glad to see the legacy ports abandoned. Haven't used a serial connector in about 3 years now.
4. Can OVERCLOCK. Don't understand the folks whining about 800Mem only displaying as 667mhz. Just increase the clock speed of the CPU and the "adjusted new memory speed" calculates for you! I had my 675 Corsair XMS clocking at 787mhz!
5. Supports the Pentium 9XXD without a BIOS flash! Actually the FSB is set to 204 (instead of 200) and my Presler 930D is OC'd by Abit to 3.2 w/o doing a thang!

Cons: 1. Ethernet WILL NOT install by running the included disk. A fellow poster said to use a jump drive (good suggestion) but not necessary. I just went to the Device Manager from "My Computer", selected the "Network Adaptors" icon and ran the "Update Driver" wizard, choosing the driver from the disk. That worked fine.
2. Ha ha! No more - this board is GREAT!

Other Thoughts: I would have given this board a solid 5 eggs if not for the drivers being so outdated and the Ethernet not installing from the disk interface.
I read SO many horror stories of the Asus boards not supporting the 9XX w/o flashing the BIOS, I went with Abit and glad I did!
Only differnce between this & the AW8Max is 2 more SATA's on and one more Gigalan connector. Tell me, really, who's running SIX SATA drives and two LAN's? Honestly! LOL

5 out of 5 eggsGood for beginning DYIers

Pros: Booted it up at the very first try :). Detected all devices instantly, BIOS very easy to handle. No problems with the P4 630 (yeah it's old, sue me).

Cons: Don't bother with the driver disk, EVERYTHING is out of date. Go to the website, download everything you need, and go from there. Back IO panel tabs break off too easily. Abit uGuru underclocks initially to guarantee boot.

Other Thoughts: Lot of scare tactics on the board. Bottom line: If you're not a harcore gamer, developer, or something of that type, this is a great board. No need for the $200 behemoths unless you're into heavy duty stuff. Just be careful and use ESD if need be.

5 out of 5 eggsGood board

Pros: 805-d at 3.4 gig. 2 gigs of pqi 667 memory, dl new bios and all works great. can't beat the performance for the price.

Cons: another ide would have been nice but standards are changing I guess.

Other Thoughts: works fine for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome board

Pros: Everything. Looks really nice. Great colors for your window cases.

Overclocks really well. Dont know what other people are talking about how it overclocks poorly. I easily get a 250FSB on stock voltages, and im only limited there because im using the stock Intel heatsink and I dont like the processor idling at 55 and load at 70. Once I get my Scythe Ninja, im sure it will scale higher at lower temps. Im also a noob to overclocking...

Cons: The ethernet controller lasted 2 hours since initial setup and then decided not to work ever again. Not a big deal, slapped in a nic and was surfing the internet in no time.

Should have a second x16 slot since the 955X supports Crossfire.

The Windows uGURU app is slow and horrible organized.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommened. Great price, great chipset, great company, great features, great layout.

5 out of 5 eggsawsome mobo

Pros: Awsome and stable mobo. Price. I really like the fanless chipset.

Cons: Audio drivers for realtek audio makes windows seem that much more bloated. As said before, ethernet drivers would not install from cd. Had to dl drivers from abit n transfer using a jumpdrive. A pain if you do not have either.

Other Thoughts: Every mobo has its quirks, i have seen worse, but once you get it setup, it runs superbly.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Board

Pros: Works very well for me. OC's well also. I have it running at 3.6, stable @ 30 degrees idle/moderate use. 42 under load. Awesome (but I am questioning how accurate it is), I use stock HS that came with the Pnetium D 930 (3GB) processor.

Cons: I can go as high as 3.7 but the comp doesn't startup. I wish it would be better OC-able.

Other Thoughts: I am using pqi TURBO 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 667 (PC2 5400) Dual Channel Kit System Memory (Item #: N82E16820141211) for anyone who is interested.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: 4 Sata cables
1 Round Pata 133 cable
1 Round Floppy cable
Guru features are nice.

Cons: Sata cables are not rated as to what speed they support.

Other Thoughts: All the reviews where people are knocking this board for it's over clocking abilities should all be deleted. Abit included over clocking abilities out of the kindness of their heart, but it is still unsupported. If you want a board/cpu rated for a higher speed, then buy a board/cpu rated for a higher speed. It's that simple.

2 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: Nice board and great cooling system easy to setup.
standard use is great.
OC support not so good

Cons: This board has a couple of minor problems and a major OC problem. Placeing a rear fan connection in the plug under the heat is next to impossible. Pipe must be raised to use it and done when the board is still not attached to the MB base. Pain in the but to install large capacity CPU cooling options but once in stalled no problems are apparent.

Doing OC with this board is some what limited does not OC well over FSB values of about 240. Some have gotten Higher by using alternate Memory sockets 2 and 4. Some have had no problems at all but that is few and far between. A group of us have perchased a number of the AW8 MBs 3 each and have had the same problems. Bios is the latest #16.

Other Thoughts: Abit supplies a great OC kit for doing it through a GUI interface.

But when support is called or E-mailed they say that OC support is not available and OC is not recommended.

You Can't have it both ways Abit so I don't really recommend the AW8 or the AW8-Max for doing OC.Try the AW8D 975 chip set for doing OC.
