good board
- Pros: solid board very smooth VIA rocks
- Cons: well look at the price not a gaming or high end board
MSI No Prob
- Pros: Its made by MSI
- Cons: There are none if you know what you have
- Other Thoughts: MSI has always given me 100%, even when I gave them 10%.Replaced a refurb board with a brand new retail with accessories,I think thats good support
MSI Board is Great, VIA Controller is Trash
- Pros: Qualifies as paperweight. Manufactured by MSI, rugged, excellent layout and design, small and drops in on any mATX PC.
- Cons: Controller by VIA. The VT8237 Controller is so clogged with shoddy firmware and software that this boards existence should be questioned. I have spent the better part of 2 months with both MSI and also VIA trying to resolve this issue. MSI quoted by way of email that this controller is NOT compatible whatsoever with Western Digital sATA II drives, however, I have confirmed this board does not work with any of my Western Digital drives at all. Prepare to spend lots of time reading the VIA forums at http://forums.viaarena.com/categories.aspx?catid=20&entercat=y
- Other Thoughts: Just remember, you asked for my other thoughts. The employees at VIA need a healthy slapping by way of a rotten trout for letting this sad excuse of a controller enter the market. The MSI support group needs an overhaul and should offer extended hours with minimal staff to handle these late-day problems. MSI's support is excellent, but slow and not conveniently available. You can rest assured I will never buy another VIA product again. I wouldn't wish this series of events on a rookie technician.
