2 out of 5 eggsP5K SE yawn

Pros: I bought this board from a local store....

awsome mobo......

Cons: ...Except for the HD Audio and Asus Customer Service.

installed board, completed build...no sound. Install all provided drivers.....no sound. Download new drivers.....no sound. download hot fix and read forums about similar problems.....no sound. Take the mobo back to the store.."We didnt install it so we wont take it back...BUT we will help you RMA it!" After 3 weeks of emailing, faxing and calling Asus CS, I gave up and bought a soundblaster card. Used mobo for about 3 months and bought a different board.

Other Thoughts: This board was quite a dream to work with, but when you pay for all the features and dont get to use them all it gets dissapointing. And then when the company that makes the thing wont even ackowledge your attempts to get the issue resolved.......Irksome!

I am still leary about buying Asus motherboards to this date...cuz I know just how hard it will be to get it replaced if something goes wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome MOBO

Pros: I think this mother board is good for an advanced user that is interested in minimal oc'ing.

Cons: Destroyed a old PCI video card while testing OC'ing. I was waiting for my PCI-X 16 to come in.

Other Thoughts: Very stable, nice over clocking abilities and is on the OSX86 project list for Mac OSX compatibility.

Pros: Great mobo, very nice oc features

Cons: IDE plug is a pain the rear, sits on the bottom left of the board under the video card. If you run sata, the board is great.. but the IDE port is in a stupid spot.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality, Options, right for the price

Pros: Stable, good selection of BIOS options for overclocking, no waste of onboard components from circa 1984 like an LPT or serial port!

Cons: No Firewire (1394 header), memory bus and fsb are locked together, nVidia chipsets allow you to unlock your memory bus to allow for more custom memory speeds. Northbridge heatsink leaves something to be desired, although I guess it does the job. Poor placement of single IDE connection (didn't affect this build, all SATA, but some might find issue).

Other Thoughts: Paired with a Q6600 SLACKR and 4 GB of 1066mhz Geil ram in a build for a friend. The board was stable right from the get-go and the completed machine felt very quick once complete.

1 out of 5 eggsAsus P5K SE P OS

Pros: It's Asus.

Cons: Hdd plug in is WAY at the bottom of the board.
Picky with memory. Would not Post with Ballistix D9 2x1Gb sticks.
Hdd controler made board DOA.

Other Thoughts: What is it with manufactures lately? Nothing but high priced Cr@p that ends up DOA to the end users. Great CPUs, Great memory, but dog poop mobos. WTH guys, what happened to QC Inspection ??????

5 out of 5 eggsmobo does it's job well

Pros: Mobo works great. Has lots of o/c features, nice safety features to prevent damage from o/c. As other reviews have stated, the ide port is hard to reach, put I needed to upgrade my ide drives anyway. Works as it should, Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit.

Cons: Not a con, put for others, Transcend 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model JM800QLU-2G does not work in the mobo. It would post but would not completely load windows. Had to return the ram and get some listed in the owners manual. The ram list can also be found on the Asus web site

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Running a E8200 @3.4Ghz!!!

Easy overclocking. Will auto the stff you don't understand.

Cons: Careful with uping the FSB freq... Memory changes as well. Adjust these things manually.

Other Thoughts: Placement for everything was fine for me. No Sata cables under my graphics card.

2 out of 5 eggsShould have avoided this one!

Pros: Board posted on first boot, 4 gbs of the G.Skill memory detected...although XP Pro doesn't see that much memory. The board isn't exactly feature enriched, I like the fact that it supports SATA and PATA (IDE).

Cons: Motherboard posted out of the box, IDE location on the motherboard is pathetic because of the distance from the corner of the case to the top corner of a cse, it probably could not be located in a worse place on the board. Not only is it in a bad location the IDE controller didn't work for me even with a replacement board! I've tried 3 diff known good IDE CD-Rom type devices and none detect, these include a SONY Blue-ray drive, another DVD drive, and a Samsung CD-Rom drive. The drives lock up and won't even eject...also the integrated NIC card is not working at all...no link lights, and it is not showing in device manager. I had the exact same problems on both boards, I even updated the BIOS to the newest revision that was released a couple of weeks ago to 1008 which did nothing to help. I've tried new IDE cables as well.

Other Thoughts: Usually I'm impressed with Newegg's speed of shipping however this time it took longer than usual to get my parts (a normal time) and because I had to RMA the board I had to pay shipping back to Newegg which prolonged the situation...I can either RMA this board for a 3rd one or return it and lose even more money at this point. Keep in mind Newegg doesn't allow exchanges...and their solution was referring me to the vendor and telling me to make it quick within 5 business days. Thanks for looking out? The bad news is that I'm building this for my Uncle so I'm looking pretty bad here...not to mention floating a large balance on my credit card until he pays me...when he gets his WORKING computer.

5 out of 5 eggsRon

Pros: Great Board - My first build in five years and everything worked great! The board didn’t recognize the new processor (E8400) until updating the bios (extremely easy and fool-proof).

Cons: IDE connector for the DVD burner. This really isn't a problem - I wanted a round cable anyway so I purchaed one a little longer (36").

Other Thoughts: As long as you do your research you shouldn't have any problems with this board.

Pros: Good mobo for the price. Supports E-sata and has Ez-Flash and profiles for over clocking. Allows a lot of control of bios options.

Cons: PATA connectors is HORRIBLE!!! Don't be connecting a hard drive and a CD-ROM drive, it wont happen without an IDE cable built for servers. DDR2 slot was a little loose on my board.

Other Thoughts: Bios didn't recognize my processor till I used EZ-Flash and updated. Intel processor drivers from the
ASUS website disabled all my USB device in Windows XP x64 had to reformat and use the cd to recover.
