NYEAAAAR
- Pros: Doesn't spontaneously fall apart
- Cons: Memory is unsupported, had to buy new sticks twice before I found something that worked. ALL side-facing SATA ports is an unfortunate thing indeed with Antec cases, have to bend cables quite uncomfortably to get them to the right places. BIOS updating software seems to be inherently stupid, is incapable of realizing there is a new BIOS update available, even after pointing it to hte update file manually. Network drivers do not play well at all with a certain p2p exchange type, meaning I'm forced to do remote downloading through my dell (sigh) upstairs. Overclocking I can only reach 3.2 with my Q6600 before things get shaky, which is rather ridiculous. I've also had graphics issues I really just want to pin on this sucker so I can feel like all my problems are in one place. I've had crashes on and off for months now. They disappear just long enough to make me think its stable again, then on come the crashes again, leading to another couple days of diagnostic testing and migraine.
- Other Thoughts: Thank goodness I'm not the only one who feels this way about this board. This thing is ridiculous. ASUS, if I hadn't had good times before this, I'd switch right now.
Took too long to fix the problems
- Pros: This motherboard pretty much does what it says it will.
- Cons: It took them over half a year to do that.
- Other Thoughts: I bought 2x2GB of Mushkin DDR2-800, reportedly capable of being run at much higher speeds. I was aware of the previous reviews stating complications, but figured I would give this a shot anyway. With the last BIOS they released back in March, I still had to underclock the RAM to keep from crashing repeatedly, and barely even got that BIOS installed in the first place. However, a month ago, they released a new BIOS. I've been using it for over a day (including some serious gaming) and haven't had a single hitch. It also fixed a massive CPU temp reporting inaccuracy (they call it a tweak). I probably won't buy ASUS again, second time I've had issues like this, but I was drawn to the EPU...
- Pros: none
- Cons: I have had nothing but trouble with this board from day one. even with the newest bios (1001) all i can do is get it to lock up. and yes my timings and voltage are all corect for my mem could never get my corsair dominator 1066 i cant keep it runing for more than 10 or 15 min
but it runs fine in my XFX board with the same chipset. even now with the corsair dominator 800 it locks up from time to time. so i would stay away from this board and i dont even want to talk abot the cpu issues i had with my Q6700.
