Great Board, Great company, Great service
- Pros: This chipset covers the gamut. You are able to use 800fsb and 1066fsb Intel Pentium 4, Pentium D, and Extreme Edition Chips. Although, one should be forewarned when using a 900 series Pentium D, because It is likely that you will need a bios flash. So, check to see the current bios revision with respect to the CPU you are trying to purchase. As always, this information can be located on Asus's website.
- Cons: None, but read my other thoughts section.
- Other Thoughts: One thing I would like to mention is the ATA Controllers. The extra 2 ATA 133 Controllers that are on this board function perfectly if the driver is installed. The ICH7R Southbridge specification only allow for 1 PATA channel, which happens to be the blue one on this board. All this means is that you can only have one controller that the current version of Windows will detect. So, if you are installing a CD drive to install windows make sure it is on the blue ATA port, the one that is innately supported by the south bride. If you decide to use the other two ATA ports, which are powered by separate Controller, most likely constraining its self to the PCI bus, then you will have to use the driver. But I would call this a con, but rather the design of the ICH7R Southbridge.
Rough Start
- Pros: Like the last guy said, its a good board once you get everything working.
- Cons: Instruction manual is not very clear on how to initially setup the board in order to install your OS.
- Other Thoughts: Had a lot of difficulty reinstalling windows with this board. Make sure when you put this thing together that you first connect your hard drive and cd on the same IDE cable. HD master, CD slave. Plug into blue ATA slot. This is the only active ATA slot. This will allow you to install Windows and then activate the other ATA slots using the provided Asus support CD. You can then separate your HD and CD appropriately.

Amazing performance for low $$.
- Pros: Great BIOS (1804), great performance, great features, great stability and great overclocking features.
- Cons: Overclocking on this board (past 299MHz FSB) requires that you boost PCIe frequency by FSB/3, plus one or two. Also, it looks like Asus isn't publishing any new BIOS--but this isn't necessarily bad, because 1804 is a great, stable BIOS.
- Other Thoughts: Running an Intel E4300 C2D (stock 1.8GHz) at 3.19GHz (354x9), PCIe set to 119MHz. G.Skill PC5300 running at 442.7 (5-5-5-12). Fast, stable overclock on a GREAT Asus motherboard. Fast shipping from Newegg--thank you!!!

WARNING: Pentium D 950 problems
- Pros: Decent when it works. Always slow to boot, even with unused options disabled. First boot aftger assy. often fails with no POST, trying again works.
- Cons: I've bought at least 6, and every one does not work at all with Pentium D 950. A replacement BIOS chip is required from Asus. This time around, Asus insists on charging me for shipping the chips! So I paid $20 for overnight - and still NO POST at all, the system is completely dead. PCMall won't take a return, so the boards (2) have to be sent in for repair at my shipping expense, 10 day turn around! Ouch. After HOURS spent with tech support.
- Other Thoughts: Choose another model, maybe another manufacturer. There's just not enough reason to buy this one (I bought "P5LD2 Deluxe"), when there are others available that actually work out of the box.
