This mobo is all talk
- Pros: Aside from the competition, not much.
1) If anything, the bios offers a lot of tweaks.
- Cons: 1) Not compatible with Enermax power supplies. Yet this should be a given since what LANPARTY board is compadible with Enermax power supplies? How about none.
2) Very picky with ram.
3) 8 SATA ports, 2 dedicated to RAID. The problem, utilize all of the SATA ports and it will overwhelm the lanes, causing corruption. This happened on both the original and RMA motherboard I received, across multiple hard drives, both new and old.
If you are only using 5 of the 6 SATA ports (non RAID) you should be fine. Use all 6 and you may experience problems.
4) Not compatible with speed fan and other overclocking tools. Running this program will cause the system to crash.
- Other Thoughts: I went with a DFI board to see what all the buzz was. Unfortunately with all of the advanced bios settings, it failed to get me a higher clock speed than my old ASUS or Abit board.
Next time I will save my cash and go with a Gigabyte or ASUS board with hopefully fewer issues.
- Pros: Stable and smooth.
- Cons: The instruction bulletin is not very instructable.
disappointing at best, stay away!
- Pros: I am rather disappointed in this board, difficult for me to find any Pros about it at this time. I suppose if you run a single gfx card and have no other PCIe cards, this is a fine board.
- Cons: PCIe configuration! One word: Horrible! Another word: Misleading!
So, PCIe1 is locked at 16x, which is good. Now comes the hammer, PCIe2/3/4 run either all at 1x!!! OR, you can set PCIe2 to run at 4x, BUT then PCIe2 AND PCIe3 do not work at all, AND LAN2 doesn't work either.
The manual doesn't tell you that, neither does Newegg (obviously not their job). ONLY if you download the additional explanation on BIOS settings from DFI you will find the PCIe configuration issues explained on the bottom of page 3.
See for yourself: http://us.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/UTLTP35.pdf
- Other Thoughts: Save yourself from a lot of hassle, and spend your cash on a different brand board, preferably from a manufacturer who doesn't trick you into thinking that what you get is one PCIe 16x, one PCIe 4x, and two PCIe 1x.
