2 out of 5 eggsHow to live with this board

Pros: A bios update cannot resolve the hanging problem.

My board began to hang intermittently after six months of flawless performance.

Went through multiple BIOS updates including 413 and A927.

The latest BIOS improved the problem but did not completely eliminate the hangs.

The permanent solution is to disable the onboard USB and replace it with a USB card.

Cons: Just doesn't work. Non-existant tech support. Is it unreasonable to expect a product to work or for the manufacturer to remedy a well known problem?

Other Thoughts: I have elected to eat this problem, but would not recommend or buy anything from this manufacturer--Not Never.

4 out of 5 eggsCan see more than 2GB RAM in XP

Pros: Good price and lots of features to make use of somewhat older AMD Socket 939 and PC3200 memory.

Cons: Had trouble getting Windows XP Pro 32 bit edition to see more than 2 GB of RAM even though 4 GB of RAM is installed in this board. Was finally successful. BIOS splash screen didn't display correctly until BIOS was updated with later firmware version.

Other Thoughts: Key to getting board to see more of the 4 GB of RAM installed consists of the following: *ENABLE* H/W Memory Hole Remapping in the DRAM Configuration. This is opposite of what most commentators say, which is to Disable this parameter. CPU in this case was AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ Toledo. Windows XP now has 2.75 GB available for use.

Pros: Great looking board. Nice BIOS menu, features, and layout.

Cons: Would not boot Windows XP or Vista install CD's. Even after repeated BIOS upgrades, the problem persisted and I sent it back for a refund.

Other Thoughts: I have an Athlon 64 X2 4400+. Maybe it was because of my CPU, but I could not get it to work. I do give credit with Biostar's tech support staff. They were able to respond to my email request for support in under 24 hours.

4 out of 5 eggsGood - If yours works

Pros: Best packaging on the market. Easy documentation and drivers. nVIDIA RAID 0/1 with four SATA 3.0 connectors.

Cons: MUST upgrade the BIOS upon installation (useful flash utility in the current BIOS). RAID utility is weak (download the current one from nVIDIA). Not hot swappable.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased five and two went back for RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a champ!

Pros: Stable. Built a new system around this board instead of taking all my peripherals, and throwing them on a new board... In the past I have noticed more problems doing that instead of building a whole new rig.

Cons: Haven't found any yet... running steady for 6 months, without the BIOS update... I have it set aside in case something happens, but I'm not going to fiddle with it if it's not broken.

Other Thoughts: If you're a serious gamer... move along... move along

2 out of 5 eggsDissappointed

Pros: Sharp looking board for cases with windows. SLI-MODE! Games look sweet on it.

Cons: Installed everything fine, using PS2 keyboard/mouse. Afterwords I plugged in my regular USB keyboard/mouse and system froze up, and would not boot on restart. I did the auto bios update, called customer support and followed their (bios, jumpers, etc.) They later said my normal everyday keyboard and mouse possibly are incompatible with this motherboard. So I am RMA'ing it, just to send me another one, yay!

Other Thoughts: Athlon 64 3200 (upgrading to X2 later), 1gb OCZ low lat, 320gb Seagate Baracuda SATA, 2x ASUS Silent 7600GT, Panasonic 16x DVD R/W. WinXP MCE.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a GEM!

Pros: I installed this board with no problems. 2.2g Dual Core A64, with 1.5 gig of ram from two different manufacturers. 300Gig SATA HD and SATA DVD burner. XP recognizes the internal NIC automatically. Audio drivers on cd. It arrived in 3 days with online trackig. Great Job! I think NewEgg is fantastic!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It's getting harder to find motherboards with more than 3 PCI slots. I will use the SLI at some point, but not yet. According to Software Sandra, my upgrade increased my power by 460%. Up from a Dual Processor PIII.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat for the price

Pros: The price went down 20$ since I bought this mobo (few months ago). The only reason I bought it was because I thought that the FSB was 2000mhz, Tiger Direct decided to advertise the FSB as 2000mhz and then changed it to 2000MT/s after I bought it, then shortly after stopped selling this model. I really like this mobo, I haven't even bothered with updating the Bios since I got it. I really like the head set that comes with it. Overall one of the best Motherboards I've bought, I love the overclock navigator in the BIOS and the automatic shutdown if the CPU temp is too high.

Cons: This motherboard dose not have a 2000mhz FSB. You need 2 identical gfx cards for SLI functions. And AMD's get VERY hot.

Other Thoughts: Right now I'm running this mobo with an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.21 Ghz and 256 mb's of RAM (1 gig coming in the mail). Beautiful for gaming, great for the price.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this c.

Pros: ?

Cons: Did not boot up. Then it booted up but failed all the memory tests. The memory connectors are very cheap. What kind of quality process is in place if the board arrives defective?
