1 out of 5 eggsHDMI Audio is BROKEN!

Pros: Other than the highly publicized HDMI, works as any other motherboard.

Cons: HDMI audio is BROKEN. Simply does not work. Attempts to get support:
Drivers: ALL of the drivers for this board on the sapphire website are broken, as I write this. NOT ONE work. End of archive errors, and wrong hardware/drivers placed in the wrong place. Seriously, not a single "updated" driver works!? The support ticket system is broken. You CANNOT submit a ticket, as the submit button is only a button. NO CODE! Simply an object on the page. The FORUMS will not allow you to enter a search term, as the "spam filter" always says your text did not match the query text. I tried this over a dozen times, all failed over TWO days. This is intentional. No way to get support or help? ALL avenues blocked by mistakes? Hmmmm?

Other Thoughts: Run away from this if you are looking for HDMI with audio (er...isn't that HALF of the standard?) support. Any support at all? I didn't get any.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good 690G Board

Pros: Good layout, Cool running north and south bridges, very easy set up with Vista 64 bit, good OC options for matx baord with this chipset.

Cons: As one reviewer stated the manual is comical - at least you will get a good laugh! No documentation on the LED codes (didn't need it due to flawless set up), no DVI but you can easily use an adapter so rally was not a con to me in an HDMI set up. So really none except I ended up selling it to get the new 780G board.

Other Thoughts: I used the Asus and Gigabyte 690G HDMI chipset boards on numerous builds and this was by far the easiest get up and running with no issues. If you are looking for this chipset get it - especially at this price. I hope Newegg starts selling Sapphires version of the 780G board soon - I'll be first in line.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, not great

Pros: I've had no problems whatsoever getting this board up and running. If you know where everything plugs in beforehand, you won't have any problems. It works great for 65 bucks.

Cons: The worst thing about this board (as is probably true of many brands) is the manual. The following is an example of what you can expect to deal with when reading it:

"Being bugged of abnormal system failure through the tossed and turned nights no more, the embedded Hardware Debug Port offers you the real-time visual system healthy for the demanding usage of computing. No more bugging by unknown system failure and no more time wasted in the first moment of 24-hour nonstop ping business computing, the embedded
Debug Port will turn you into a well training hardware professional with the seeing system situation. (The Post Code please refer to the Website)"

Honestly, the only thing this manual is good for is a laugh.

Other Thoughts: The BIOS is adequate, but nothing to write home about. The same can be said of the integrated video (but that's integrated for you). All in all, I'm satisfied with this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGameing Board

Pros: I love this board, I game on it with no problems at all. I run a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Black Edition Processor with 2 gig of OZC reapear ddr2 800 RAM and a PCI express ATI video card just fine

Cons: Only has one IDE plug in on it, still in the process of getting a SATA 3.0 HD The front panel connectors where not color coated and manual not much help.

Other Thoughts: Add more IDE ports two would work much better. Nice board

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for a DVR

Pros: HDMI works great after a few windows updates, Good built in video! The best is i didnt have any of the problems that KevinW had (second review under mine)

Cons: Couldnt have a dvd burner and hard drive on the same IDE cable in vista (worked fine in xp with some speed loss) make sure you have atleast a sata hard drive.

Other Thoughts: As my Title stated great for a DVR but with that said Make sure your not going to use this as a game machine or something similar if so you will want to go with a better board.

4 out of 5 eggsStill decideing.

Pros: AMD chipset. Looks good. Bios appears to have everything, full OC options. CPU half multis. CPU/ram/chipset voltage control. Ram timings, etc, etc. BUT..........read Cons.

Cons: I first ran a 4000+ X2 Brisbane. I knew the multi could not be increased, but also found out I could not even lower the multi even with the bios having half multi. options. Have a 5000+ X2 Black now. Can't lower multi and can only raise the multi from 13 to 13.5. Any thing else will bomb. This is so maddening!!! This is with the bios it came with, dated 08/06/2007. I may try the other 2 bios available from Sapphire but they are older and so I am not holding my breath.

Other Thoughts: I have a 3850 and running raid 0. The raid was easy enough, but the 3850 was tricky. After the 3rd format/OS install what worked best for me is to setup without the pci-e card installed. Run the onboard video for set up, get Net. and install the motherboard/IGP CCC drivers. Then install the pci-e card and just go through the prompts with out installing/uninstalling anything. Upon reboot my 3850 was detected properly, CCC works, and everything seems fine. I kept getting no video signal trying to run setup with the pci-e video.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Impressed

Pros: Integrated Graphics is Impressive. Audio sounds pretty nice also. ATI/AMD Chipsets.

Cons: 1) Reset Doesn't Work
2) Sometimes it doesn't find the Keyboard on boot
3) Not enough PCI slots
4) Only one IDE Connector
5) IDE and FLOPPY Connectors are to close to each other

Other Thoughts: I overall am very disappointed in this board. I really wish I would have sent it back and got a different board. I usually love Sapphire products but am deeply disappointed with this one. Honestly this board was not worth the money I spent on it. I even flashed the BIOS and I still have problems with it. Maybe they will release a new version soon that fixes the keyboard problem. Also Windows XP locks up on the "Shuting Down the Computer" screen when turning it off. And the Reset doesn't work. I have a hard time believing it is the button on my case so I am going to place a safe bet in saying it is the connector on the board. Please test your boards better before releasing them next time Sapphire.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The integrated video is so good as tough isn't an integrated...

Cons: The overclocking is pretty low, and the north bridge heatsink get really hot, may could be better if it had a fan...

Other Thoughts: I've got a 5200+ x2, 2gb gSkill and this motherboard (sapphire 690g) my AMD cpu runs in 2.85ghz prefectly but if I put it in a biostar could to run in 3.2 ghz... any way I don't use that main board cuase the ati x1200 is so far better than the 6100 that has that board

3 out of 5 eggsZero Support, Problamatic

Pros: Great board for the value if you're not going to use anything past what's available on the motherboard.

Cons: Zero support from sapphire, and from what I've read in addition to my own experience this board was not ready for prime time. I tried adding a pci-express video card and received numerous hardware errors that were just inexplicable I couldn't get windows to boot, and it varied whether or not I could get into bios while I had a graphics card installed. Without using hte pci-ex slot everything ran smoothly however.

Other Thoughts: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128056 for the little bit of extra money get the gigabyte board instead. Much better.
