Perfect card for the price
- Pros: Great card for a great price! Runs everthing at full detail on my Dell 24' monitor. This baby is getting me about 30-60% more performance then my old AIW X800 while running cooler (68 full load vs 86).
- Cons: Not 512 mb, limited potential, runs hot (53c) idle, kinda large, and some driver issues.
- Other Thoughts: I replaced my AIW X800 with this baby, wow, a world of differences in performance! Great card for my Core 2 6600 with 2GB of ram.
Direct X
- Pros: Excellent price compared to the $500 cards of the same model out there.
- Cons: I saw a card like this for $xxx dollars at an online store, but that was 512mb.
- Other Thoughts: My old computer ran directx 9.0a on a Rage 128 Pro, designed for Directx 8.1 . If this is possible, why can microsoft make DX10 compatible with DX9 cards? After all, they both use the same aspects of the video card (Shading, T&L, AA). And also, manufacturers are selling laptops and pc's that are "Vista Ready". It must mean that vista is proven to work on those machines. I also found a link that says a machine is ready if it has a DX9 video card. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/capable.mspx
Btw, im building a new system and I cant wait to get this card!
Great x1800 series for the price
- Pros: To start off i dont have this Great Card yet, but i just like to say that this card is a killer i saw benchmarks and it even takes out the Nvidia 7800 GTX so just imagine..my friend has one and i was amazed by the image quality much nicer then the 7800GTX..reason why im buying this card and you should to is because its a good powerful video card for just about 200 bucks ..not many cards at this price can perform as good..and its a directX 9 card so we all know DirectX 10 is coming soon.. so why shell out $300+ on a top end DX9 card when it wont be able to run DX10 graphic details and then u would have to up-grade after spending clost to $xxx beans on that top end card, and DX10 cards will be out by the time Windows vista is out...so this DX9 X1800 xt is a great powerful fast card for the value plus it has enough power to play all ur games at high detail w/out slow down with power to spare..i even played BF2 at 1600x1200 with 4xAA,16xAF and still got 91 FPS..so in ur face nvidia.lol
- Cons: Gonna need to up grade to DX10 card in a yea or two.. but not really a con for now..cuz everything out there runing on DX9....
- Other Thoughts: my specs are:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+(AM2)...ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe... CORSAIR XMS2 1GB DDR2800 (PC2 6400)...256MB Radeon X1800XT...WD Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM HD...Audigy 2 ZS
