Absolutely horrible experience
- Pros: LOOKS nice...
- Cons: as stated many times previously, Sapphire does NOT include an 8 pin connector. The manual is brief and not much help. Difficult to get in contact with Sapphire. The box explicitly states that the card will run on a 550 watt power supply. Dont even think about running it that low!
Maybe it's just something new their doing with graphics cards now, but mine did not come in a static proof bag. It was just sitting bare on a bed of foam.
- Other Thoughts: Blue screen memory dumps and direct x issues. My card is ridiculously unstable.
If Sapphire seemed to have it together, I would give this card a higher rating. I cant be bitter just because mine was defective. but because I couldnt get in contact with them, and they exhibited no professional characteristics, I have no choice but to give this a 1 star rating. I wouldnt recommend Sapphire for anything.
Waste of 1GB GDDR4
- Pros: Excellent card for the money when compared to the 2900XT 512mb/1gb, not so against the 3870 or the 8800gt. If you have HD TV and plan on CF will trounce GTX.
- Cons: The extra 512mb in the 1gb model is useless, in the tests it's not even used and the GDDR4 speeds are not comparable when pitted against the 512mb GDDR3 Pro card which is 45% less than the 1gb Pro.
- Other Thoughts: If you r planning to buy now, then get the 2900Pro 512mb, the 3870 is only cooler running, consumes less power, but about equal or maybe 5% faster, Feb 08 the 3870 X2 is coming this is the one to get, quad CF.
Sweet nectar of digital life!
- Pros: Fast, gig of ram for big resolutions, quite sexy over all.
- Cons: big, pretty warm but you should expect it when your asking this kind of power from a card.
- Other Thoughts: The water block for the XT model fits this perfectly.
